Franklinia tree

Any one growing this and can tell me about it?Any pictures?

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

I have a 3 foot Franklinia I bought 3 years ago. I worked some organic material into the soil. It grew well for 2 years and had about 10 flowers last August. This year, it's been reluctant to put on much growth. The leaves are pale. I've fertilized with Miracid without effect. Today, I added Ironite. If this doesn't green out the leaves, I'll have to try sulfur or Aluminum Sulfate (although this last one is suggested for use on hydrangeas only).

Franklinias need acidic soil and are more sensitive than I thought. Test your soil and make sure the pH is definitely on the acidic side. It would be better if the soil is naturally acidic or you will run into the same problems I have started to have. This will be an ongoing challenge to keep the soil around it acidic enough.

It weathered out winters well here in zone 8b. Didn't mind the heat either. It's the soil.

I tried growing a Franklinia but after 2 years of little growth it died. I want to try again, though. I didn't know it needs such attention to pH.

Well, our soil here where I am in very naturally acidic. We can grow terrific rhododendrons and azaleas. Sounds like a really slow grower, then?
