Yep they love lime azaleas do
Rosamond puts out
I use all my coffee grounds around my many camellias, and my few azaleas - never any lime.
Use coffee grounds around my Daphne, too.
My concern for you Blaine is the zone 5; no one reports growing them there.
I'll send you some cuttings to try, anyway.
Polly, I the more lime/acidic soil, the more color you get out of your hydrangeas. I've used it for years and the blue is bluer than ever! I've never seen a varigated one, that is really pretty, I like it!

Polly, your plants are wonderful, it's too difficult to make a choice, but I LOVE Pink Beauty too, it seems to be happy where ever it is...
Adict, still can't come to grips using lime unless your soil is really acidic - 5.5 or below. I use lime for my grass to raise the PH level - where there is moss showing it is way too acidic. PH much above 5.5 is not agreeable to azaleas - but good for veggies and peonies, and grass. We use pine needles, (coffee grounds) and always leaf mulch on our acid loving plants.
Your soil must be very acidic if you get good results using lime on acid loving planys.
Mostly I use it on my azaleas, hydrangeas & rhododendrums, gardenias and tree's. I can only tell you that it's working for all of them. They look great. All green and lush. My soil must have been lacking in something. Who know's.,,,lol I threw some out on my garden tomatoes and veggies too along with Epsom Salt. I wish I had more pine out here but unfortunately we don't. My FIL never uses lime because he has pine tree's everywhere and the plants love the needles when they fall. I'll use lime on my lawn too. :-)
