Locating local Dave's Garden members in Mississippi

The first week-end in Oct is the Ky Roundup so some of us couldn't make it that week-end. I will be glad to help if my daughter is doing better, she has is being transfered back to Jackson hospital. The longest she has been out of the Hospital since 12-14 is 6 days, so things will depend on her health.

Larry you are going to kill me ROFL!!!!!!! I have them both. Either I bought the Variegated or Kay gave it to me(got it when I was there anyway last summer) and Tatiana sent me Fruit Cocktail spring a year ago.

I swear when I get an addiction it just consumes me untill I have all I want. I think I have all of them except the yellow plume that I gave away at the spring RU. It was an ugly bloom and never got any better.

Oopssssssss I do need one. Justicia Coccinea(Red) everyone I have purchased/recieved in trade has ended up being pink or a purple firespike.

Ruth, sorry to hear she is still having to go to the hospital. Our daughter that was so sick last Sept has been in the hospital about 3 times this year, but she is expecting now and she is feeling better than she has in over a year.

Donna, I was just going to post that about last year's roundup. Also, Oct is too late to plant.
Personally, I think the sooner the better!! LOL!!!

if the plant is well rooted you can leave it in the pot or put it in the ground its not a good time to do soemthing like a ginger or daylily but I think northerners can move them anytime....

Gee, I really started something when I asked if anyone else was from Mississippi!
I live in Collins, which is 24 miles north of Hattiesburg. Perhaps I could help with the Get-Together ya'll are talking about having at Paul B.

I think October sounds good, as it will be cooler.

Thanks, everyone, for the response! I'd like a thread by us of plants we grow easily in Mississippi-----

DonnaB,

I found these native Oakleaf Hydrangea and snatched a few cuttings to see if I could get them to root. They are growing wild in the most wonderful location not far from me, in Mississippi, I live about a 1/4 mile from the stateline.

I thought I'd tell you Mississippi gardeners about something I found on a road trip to Jackson last week. Mynelle Gardens (city owned) in Jackson has heirloom plants for sale if you ask the head gardener, Johnny. They had some volunteers who prepared for a plant sale, but it was not well advertised, and they had a lot left. I came back to Texas with 10 great plants for $2 each! I got Harlequin Glory Bower tree, buckeye tree, two heirloom roses, apple mint, fall asters...oh, I can't remember them all. I originally asked about the Stokes Aster, which was blooming profusely in the garden, and found out he had those and more for sale. But, I didn't get home with Stokes, in the frenzy... I was so excited! Even if you don't need plants, the garden is beautiful right now with daylillies and hydrangeas and gardenias. It's worth the trip. Here's a pic of the stokes aster I didn't get! :(

Don't forget me. You know I will be there if at all possible.

Oops the Mid-South 1st RoundUp is 10/8/05 in Moscow TN, just across the MS/TN stateline, about 40 miles east of Memphis. Since it's 40 miles from me and I help to instigate it, I have to attend.

Since the date isn't firm on this RoundUp, can you move it to the later part of September so people can attend both?????

what would any of you think about the first or second weekend in November. I had planned one here for October 16 last year then all the hurricanes kept happening and had to cancel due to all the damage many of the people had to deal with that were coming, even we had a great deal of clean up to do here over 1 hour away. Larry started a RU thread over on the RU Forum
