Anybody interested in a Jim Westerfield mint Co-op?

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Im just putting out feelers right now..Im not in anyway commiting to doing this coop...I first have to get permission from Dave and Im trying to get a discount price from Frangrant Fields..I just want to know if there will be enough interest....Judy

Longview, TX

I am interested in a co-op from Fragrant Fields if you don't wait too long. It is already hot here in Tx where I'm from.
Kelly

EMAIL me if you want to do the C0-op....I am only able to use the library computer to get on DG. I get email via my cell phone. I can log into Garden Web with no problem. But the setup DG uses for some reason I cannot log into it with my membership name and password. The DG setup requires cookies...which I cannot do cause of the cell phone. However Garden Web doesnt require cookies to be set with my cell phone...weird.
My email is kkay59@hotmail.com and make sure you put co-op or mint in the subject line so I dont miss it and it slips in junk mail folder. THANKS.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Here is their website http://www.fragrantfields.com/subcatmfgprod.asp?0=203&1=217&2=1076
They dont have a rating one way or the other in the GWD. I cant believe Ive never seen this site. I love mints.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'd definitely be interested!

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

they don't have a rating, but I recently ordered, and several other folks did too, I can't speak for them, but this company was very satisfactory to me, and low shipping charges, and very eager to please.

I would be up for it! Yum!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I would be interested also. They have some great sounding ones.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

I've ordered from FF before and had very good service and healthy plants although one of the Rosemarys I got from them suddenly croaked and they said they'd replace it with my next order.

I'm about minted out for this year except for Banana and FF doesn't have it.
Just bought Lavender Mint yesterday and have several others.
So I'm good for now but thank you Judy! ;-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Thanks for looking into this, Judy! I'd definitely be interested!

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

Yes , I would be interested!

Victorville, CA

I would be interested. I'm still waiting for them to get the Sister Julie's Wintergreen, it's been unavailable.

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Im waiting back to hear from the company..They responded once to figure out how we could do this and after I get the particulars done I will ask Dave if we can do the coop...this isnt definite yet so be patient....Judy

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

Me!!!!! I would definitely participate!

Jody, grow them in pots and they won't take over.

Barb

Longview, TX

Jody,
I dont blame you for being scared of mint!! I think it is best to be grown in POTS only. Otherwise it just takes over like crazy!

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

So far the cost for the plants will be 2.89...Im waiting for more info on what shipping will be to me and to you....after all this it wont be until I get back from vacation ..Jun 22....also will figure out which ones I will order...anybody have suggestions on what they want?...I will limit to how many want them since Ive got to have at least 8 plants per variety...Judy

Longview, TX

Is this for mints only, or anything on their website?
Kelly

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

I'd like anything unusual... berries and cream, banana, etc. I've got the more common ones.

Barb

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Barb, it would be for just the Jim Westerfield hybrids....I will get back with everybody as soon as I can get things settled....Judy

hanna, WY(Zone 4b)

Hi Judy, count me in. Marshmallow mint sounds good.jim's candy lemon lime , sister julies wintergreen, and there was one named after his wife, a salad one thats supposed to be good. Can you find a pina colada mint? I'd love that. Yvonne

hanna, WY(Zone 4b)

Judy, its Marilyns' sweet salad mint. Yvonne

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Im keeping track so when and if I do this that will be one of them...just so we get at least 8 of them to qualify....Judy

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

If youd decide to go ahead and do this, I'll want one of each of the ones you are going to get. I have no mints at the moment. Can you imagine?
Mobi

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

Isn't berries and cream his? I'll still probably want one of each...

Barb

Lantana, FL(Zone 10a)

I'd love to take part in this coop! You can probably count me in for one of just about everything you end up getting! ;-D

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'd order one each of the ones I don't already have, and I mostly only have the more common ones, with the exception of hazelnut latte and berries and cream. I got a start of those this spring.

Does anyone know which mints are hardy down to zone 4? I've been trying to figure that out, and every website tells me something different. I've tried to start mints for several years and lose most of them during the winter. I got chocolate mint, and spearmint to come back this year, but no others.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

is sister julie's wintergreen mint one of jim's mints? Iknow the julie's sweet citrus is, wondering if someone in his family is named julie, and someone in his family named jim, LOL guess he'd be the jim hehe.

If that's his mint I want the sister julie's wintergreen, you got a list of what' is jim westerfields's mints?

kathy

Paradise, TX(Zone 8a)

I would love to get in on this co-op. Please let me know when you order!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I checked out the FF site just now, and it looks like the Sister Julie's Wintergreen mint is back in stock. :-) Any of the mints listed look tempting to me, but I think my top picks would be that wintergreen, Jim's Candy Lemon Lime, Hillary's Sweet Lemon (said to be a prolific producer of lavender blooms), and the Marilyn's Salad that's been mentioned. Of course, I don't think I could resist other luscious-sounding varieties like Marshmallow or Candied Fruit or Jesse's Sweet Pear! I'm sure I will find a number of "must have" varieties in this coop, whichever ones you decided to go with!

BTW, I saw Marilyn's Culinary Delight listed on the FF mint page, but not Marilyn's Salad.... maybe they are similar cultivars?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I've got both those mints critter, they are different looking.

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Well I got an email back from the company and they say that the only one they cant give me in a coop is Sister Julies..they can keep it in stock so cant commit to an large amount..also they cant give me any ideas on shipping costs....Im not sure if this is going to work out..too many variables to put into consideration..Judy

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

whaaaaa!! I'm balling here, that's the one I wanted LOL. You can always have a huge swap LOL

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

I guess Im going to close this thread..as of today Im not going to do a co-op for mints...I really got excited about this but with the company not giving me answers about shipping , I feel that it would be more hassle then is worth it..maybe some other time we can do this but not right now...sorry for getting everybodyies hopes up...Judy

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Bummer. I appreciate that you were willing to undertake such a venture, just sorry you weren't getting more helpful responses from Fragrant Fields. You'd think they'd jump at the chance to get a big group order!

Thanks for looking into it for us, Judy!

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

I thought so too..but when they responded they werent too excited in my opinion..maybe it was just too much of a new thing for them...if they only realized how much money they would have made...oh. well its for the better...Judy

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

perhaps they are just too small to handle the business(?).

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

they may be, he does seem to run out of his mints frequently

Coventry, RI(Zone 6a)

Maybe they would be more interested in late winter/early spring when they are planting.
