I have been trying to grow delpheniums for years in 7a and never got the knack. Should I keep them under the lights all summer (and maybe put them outside at night for the cooler temps,) or should I plant them outside as soon as they get big enough, keeping in mind that part of June, most of July and August, have very high average temperatures? I do have a light setup in the basement where they would be cooler, around 74-76 during the day. I don't mind growing them as biennials or annuals if I can just get some of those gorgeous blooms!
delphiniums germinating now. What next ?
Here is a web site that may help:
http://www.backyardgardener.com/plants/gdelp.html
And here is another:

Perhaps your answer may be found there?
If you keep them in the shade, there should be no problem at those temperatures. In fact. they should grow a lot better than in this climate where we are lucky to get such temperatures for more than a couple of weeks a year... :o(
