Orientals weed eaten

My Casablanca orientals got eaten by the weed eater. (Don't ask, long story). :(

My question is, I was waiting for them to bloom, so I could move them out of the bed they are in. Can I move them now, since they aren't going to bloom this year anyway, or should I wait longer? Don't want to kill them, or did I already?

A couple of years ago one of my Orientals was broken to the ground by a pet in the spring when it was about a foot tall. The next year it still came up and bloomed, so don't lose hope. I've successfully moved them in active growth, so I don't think moving yours now would hurt it. Good luck. Neal

Don't worry. Just move them. If you can move them with a chunk of soil attached, they won't even know they've been moved.

I had to move my martagons last year - often they sulk for a year or so after moving. 14 are up and will flower so only 7 are sulking. Guess I did something right. I had to move 11 large clumps of asiatics this spring. They are all growing happlily in their new home.

ND = north dakota? How far are you from the border? Do you have iris? Do you have iris borer?

Thanks everyone. I'm going to move them tonight and leave lots of dirt attached. I just wasn't sure about moving them now that they've already been stressed by the weed wacker.

So sad! I know how you feel. Two years ago the bunnies ate mine to ground level. I always thought they had to get nourishment through their leaves to produce flowers for the following year. They came back just fine the next year and I spread Blood Meal when they were just peeking out of the ground. Did it for my Asiatics also. No damage since then by bunnies. Good luck.
