The PDB shows it grows between 2 ft to 3 ft tall. Compared to most others, that sounds REALLY small. Mine are already over 2 ft in height, one in a pot, the other in the ground. They do seem to get very wide.
Have any of you who have grown Creamsickle had them get taller? And if so, how much?
Question on Creamsickle
Carrie, at present I have one of my CS at 5feet. I got her last year. They are a bit slow but a lovely plant.
Mine is blooming right now and is just beautiful. I fall in love with her every year when she blooms. Huge blooms and skirt drops down. Yes, she normally is white, but I still love her.
Whoever added that info made a booboo. It grows much bigger than that unless they made a bonsai out of it. LOL
THANK YOU!!!! I was thinking it had to be a boo boo! Because mine is in it's first year, the leaves are humungo, and the plant is very wide. It is - hold on - I am going to measure this. It is 19 inches tall (from top of soil) and 32 inches wide (I was wrong on it before, as I was not measuring, just looking from up above and it looks big). I just repotted it though, and always repot a little deeper each time. I think I started these cuttings in December of 2004. They have been one of my fastest growers - competing with a Whiskers. It really looks like it has much more to offer me - more leaves shooting out of the top. I just treated it with Messenger on Saturday afternoon so hopefully it will grow taller. No matter how tall it grows, it is already too wide to put in the spot I had planned - unless it took a standard tree form and grew much taller with less foliage on the trunks. Even then, the way the two trunks Y out I couldn't tell. I may have to think of a better place for her but where I'd planned, she would have been the lime light. She is such a gorgeous plant. She needs a place to show off but be protected from elements as well (I'm so picky about this). Here's a pic I just took tonight.
I have a tall standard, Karrie. As tall as most of my others. 7 feet or so. I would take a picture of it for you but it looks just terrible. I need to trim off all the winter damage and do a root prune and get it going again. I am hoping that Chele will show up to do it for me now that she has it down pat. It does have lots of blooms on it, but the structiure is so lacking.
Here it is 2 years ago. This is the top of a 7+foot standard.
That's pretty Kell. Now if they are in "pots" what should I expect? I have one in a pot and one in the ground, but will have to dig that one up in the fall and bring it inside.
Karrie, the one in the ground will probably grow bigger and quicker than the one in the pot. JMO
The one I have in the picture Karrie, is in a pot. I f you use a big enough pot, they grow big and lush. But you have to make sure they do not dry out and you need to feed them alot more than if in the ground. The ones I have in the ground all grow much, much bigger than the potted ones. But I leave the ones in the ground year round, the potted ones I root prune and cut back to its birthday suit every year.
:-) thanks! I think we can work this out.
