I've tried saving seeds from Rudbeckia Maxima several
times, gotten them from seed exchanges too. Never had
a single one germinate! I've cold stratified, left them warm
for a VERY long time. No success.
Do they set viable seed? Or have special germination
requirements? I love them and sure would like to have more.
Rudbeckia Maxima - do they set viable seed?
Tammy,
Did you ever hear from anyone?
I have a Rudbeckia maxima which has a number of drying flowers/impending seeds....this is the second year. I have not noticed any volunteer seedlings, but I have quite a weedy hill next to the plant so they may be hiding. I plan on trying this year to collect seeds and will wintersow what I do get....I'll let you know if anything comes of it.
Sue
No answers. I've gotten several batches from seed exchanges and tried saving my own. No luck.
(And I've had pretty good luck with all sorts of other seeds so I'm not a beginner). I tried putting them
through cold cycles and just starting them warm. If you figure it out, let me know!
Tam
