Is it too late to plant Star Gazer lily bulbs in 5a?

I put some lilies in about this time last year ~ they were orientals (like your Stargazer) and came up very short but they did bloom nicely. They're growing like crazy this year. I think they should be OK being planted now.

I planted my stargazers and other orientals last year at this time and they bloomed in August and September....right when I wanted them to!

I also have planted orientals this time of year and they seem to do fine. I would mulch well after they come up to conserve ground moisture as we are moving into our 'warm' weather time.
