My drip system

Just wanting to share. No one was around late last night. :-(

Hello Mary, I am sorry about your problem, I know how hot and humid it is in Houston, and how uncomfotable it can be without air conditioning. I hope your insurance will pay most of it and they will get it done very soon.
I will be thinking about you.
Love , Josephine.

Thanks so much Josephine. The estimator just left and a water remediation crew is on it's way to at least get things cut out/pulled back/covered up and dried out. They will also be treating a lot of areas with mildewcide (thank goodness!) I feel a lot better now, knowing something is going to be done.

As for the AC, I guess I'll just have to stay out in the garden! It will be cooler outside than in. Since I'm still nursing my back I may actually be forced to just relax and enjoy the garden as it is now. :-)

We have had problems with our drip pan too! I think we got it taken care of last summer but I keep an eye on it! Why don't they make those things in plastic, anyway? We did learn that we should flush the overflow line at least yearly, which .... who does that? One time they flushed it with clorox, and I thought I'd faint from those fumes in the system! Hubby said, DON'T let them do that again. We used vinegar after that!

I hope that you get your system balanced out, and your family is a relief crew for you!

Have a good weekend!

Thanks Mel. The water remediation people were here until midnight last night! I have a very small bedroom (in a very small house, so it works out) and they have four blowers in there. There is also a machine that is like a "catheter" for the room - it's sucking up all the humidity from the air, and there is a long tube that they've taped to my floor, into the bathroom, up my vanity cabinet, and snaked it down into the drain to deposit the water. They'll come back this afternoon to be sure everything dried out, and then remove their equipment.

I'm glad family is family, because we'll all end up camping out in the living room and the computer room. I can't put my room together again until the work is done (hopefully next week), and the guest bedroom is full of the stuff that came out of my room.

I don't understand about those drip pans, either. If they're made to collect the water as it gets channeled outside, and they know that the water will make it rust, why not take precautions to make the pan out of something that won't rust? The AC guy did tell me that they are going to coat the new pan with something that will prevent rust, much like a bed-liner in a pick-up.

So sorry to hear of your troubles! :( I will be reminding my husband tomorrow about the flushing out thing. And I will also use the vinegar! Hope all returns to normal soon for you!

So sorry to hear of your problems with the air conditioner drip pan and your ceiling. You have my sympathy.

Thanks, Hazel. The water remediation people were back Sat afternoon. The ceiling supports hadn't dried out, the carpet still hadn't dried out, and they discovered a new wet spot on the other side of the wall, in my living room (I wouldn't even have thought about moving the furniture that was there to check.) They brought in another blower, sprayed some more mildewcide, and will be back tomorrow mid-morning, hopefully to pack up these blowers and put a temporary cover over the hole in the ceiling. The AC people are also due tomorrow morning, it will be nice to have some cool air again. I'm VERY thankfull that my insurance people are all about taking care of this fully, and correctly. I've been extremely impressed with everyone's professionalism - and that they won't let me do any moving or lifting myself (I still can't do much, due to my back problem.)

This is certainly an opportunity to once and for all clear out any clutter in my bedroom. Everything has to come out when the contractor finally starts doing the work. One of the things they will do is clean, spot-treat, and re-stretch my carpet (and replace some of the pad.) I'm looking roward to that!
