Great place to buy pots

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi all,

I've been working on an area in my garden for an assortment of potted plants. I have looked high and low at all the nurseries and stores in my area. I came across a Pottery Manufacturing Company that is in Gardenia and found the pots I have been looking for. Here is there site:http://www.potterymfg.com/

They have a huge selection, other than what you see on their website, and the lady that works there was very helpful and knowlegable about what type and size I needed. They also have a large area of seconds that are a huge discount. I purchase 2 large pots that had a little chip in the corner and they were less than 50% off....great deal to me.

So, if you looking for some unusual or good priced pots, go take a look at this place. I will be returning again.

Great link, Donna, thanks for posting. Looks like they have a lot of unusual shapes not found everywhere.

One very small correction, though -- it's Gardena, not Gardenia -- I grew up there! :-)

Well, it would have been a much nicer place to tell people you were from, too!

It was so long ago the area was still thick with farms and a large Japanese community, which made it a very interesting place to be. Still remember going to my girlfriend's house after school to play and she would offer me a snack of octopus! LOL

Well.......I guess I am going to have to check this out since its right down the street. By the way, there is still a large Japanese community here but the farms and strawberry fields are long gone.

Hi nada,

You will be amazed at what you can find at this place. It's awesome. The lady who works at the desk was very helpful to me in picking out some colors and styles that would work for my new potted area.

BTW, have you seen the thread or gotten the email about the Calif. gathering we are having? It should be a lot of fun and we would love to meet you too.

Go to the California Gardening thread and there are thread talking about it.

Hi Daisy, I haven't been posting much recently. Two more weeks of school and I get some kind of paper they say is important. Been studying a lot of Entomology recently. Ha. Seems like plants and bugs really go together. Anyway, I've been keeping real busy this past 4 or 5 months.

Donna.....thanks so much for the info. You know, I've been driving by that place for many years but never stopped in. Seems like I have so many pots left over from nurseries and people's sidewalks the day before garbage day......I'm actually running out of room to put them anymore. Ha.

Don't think I will be able to make the roundup. Sure sounds like fun though. Hope you guys take lots of pics and post them for all to see. I will be checking in from time to time.............nada (Scott)

Scott, I could come down and pick up some pots and store them at my place. Of course I might put plants in the temporarilly.

Hi George,
Not that I am a dumpster diver or anything like that, but, you would be absolutely amazed at some of the nice pots and containers people sit out on their curbs on garbage day. I have even found some nice plants that just needed some TLC to come back to life. I guess its true that one man's junk is another man's treasure. Ha.

What day did you say was garbage day in Gardena, Scott?
:-)
