Hi Terry,
I have been using the generalized search before trying to add a plant. http://davesgarden.com/pf/search.php
Just yesterday I was looking for Phacelia crenulata of the family Hydrophyllaceae
a plant I know as Scorpionweed, Scorpion Weed, or Scalloped Leaf Phacelia
I searched on: Phacelia with 11 results but I didn't see species crenulata in the results; I then searched on crenulata with 5 results but no Phacelia crenulata, then a search was done on scorpionweed- no results
Then I tried to add the plant using Scorpionweed as the common name, and after making the complete entry got the message that the plant already exists in the database at http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/101084/index.html
I like the generalized search because I can try lots of words, on an individual basis, that I know are in the name especially the Genus and Species name and that way hopefully avoid making or in this case attempt a duplicate entry.
P.S. I tried searching on Hydrophyllaceae in the generalized search just now and this particular plant isn't there.
Edited to say: Thanks a bunch- Angele
