what tropicals are hardy in zone 5?

i want to plant tropicals around my pool. i am in zone 5 and i don't want to do container planting. i want something that is hardy to zone 5. i am interested in trees, shrubs, flowers. and those plants, that aren't tropical per se, but have a tropical look about them
