Hi,
This is my 1st time growing strawberries. I bought Sequoia strawberry plants, and I think it said on the label they are June bearers?
Anyway, I already harvested a few strawberries and it's only beginning of May. I see a couple of dozen more little strawberries getting bigger but I see no more new flowers. Is it going to flower again this year or this is it? Cuz I don't think any of the strawberries will be around in June (I'm sure all of them will be ripened this month.)
Weather-wise, it's been pretty cool here. It's been raining a lot and the temp-wise, it only hits 70 on a sunny day. Low has been about 50.
Any comments greatly appreciated!

Sequoia strawberries - already over blooming?
June bearing strawberries pretty much bear in May in zone 9. Have you thought of planting everbearing varities. Fern and seascape are a couple that come to mind. Mine have started bearing and will produce strawberries until fall.

Gee, really. Thank you George. I think once all the seqouia strawberries are harvested, I will plant the everbearing variety.

The best time to plant them is in Jan. Nurserys have bareroot plants at that time. Most sell them in bundles of 10 plants and this is the cheapest way to buy them. I have about 30 plants and we have fresh strawberrirs all summer to fall plus making several pints of jam. I have Fern and Seascape and one other variety (Iv'e lost track of the name)

My Sequouia's are doing great, and yes, we're already been eating them, yum, Annie
Well, I thought it said "June beraing" on the sequoia strawberries label, but it didn't. And you know what? It is blooming again. Blooming stopped for about 2 weeks so I thought it was all done, but now I have 5 more blooms, so Seqoia may be everbearing? I am hoping they are..

tmm99, 'seascape' strawberries are wonderful. I used to get them at a farmer's market when I lived farther north -- they told me they were grown in Santa Maria. Down here near San Diego we get chandler or camarosa and they're all gone by early July. :-(
Next year I'll shop early and find some seascapes to plant.
I saw some six packs of Sequoia strawberry at OSH this weekend that were labeled as 'June Bearing.' I grow Sequoia strawberries and they fruit over a long period. I would consider them an 'everblooming' variety. I'm picking about a bowl of strawberries a day this time of year. They are delicious.
Clover,
Thank you for your post. Yep, I am now declaring Sequoia to be everbearing also. I have a dozen flowers on them now and they are still bearing fruit. They are very good, arent' they.

I second that, mine are still blooming, and extra sweet!
