Hey, it is supposed to get warm by the weekend....

Floresville, TX(Zone 9a)

I wish I had known that someone would actually want these things...

I got one bulb/potato/tuber whatever you want to call it a few years ago without knowing what it was, and then forgot all about it until a few months later when I found it growing out of the bag it was given to me in, which was sitting on a shelf in my kitchen. I felt sorry for it, so I planted it, and now I have to collect piles of them every week or so during the summer & fall.

I just dumped the remaining ones from last year into the trash a few weeks ago. I had thought of listing them to trade, but thought it impossible that anyone would want this vine enough to go to the trouble of cleaning up it's offspring.. now I know. In other words, by August there'll be bags of them for anyone that wants some. I'll be more than happy to post again when the crop comes in lol:-)

I just realized I have at least 15. They have 12" vines and lots of roots while still in a plastic bag from last fall. Anyone wanting some just email and I'll send several.

Twiggybuds, are yours the ones w/ the rough, looking exterior and irregular shaped? According to Michaelp in the Plant Files, http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/32235/index.html these are the edible ones that are good to eat baked or boiled. If so, I'd like to try them... Thanks, ~ Suzi :)

Moss Point, MS(Zone 8b)

I just looked at plantfiles and it looks the same. I've never heard of eating them. The best use I know is as a beautiful fast screen. I had it on a trellis mixed with morning glories. I never noticed a bloom on it so they must be inconspicuous. Let me know.

Dorothy, You have mail ~

Please be careful eating things if you aren't sure. :)

...Or you might just sprout heart shaped leaves! heeheehee

Yazoo City, MS(Zone 7b)

Badseed! Got the babies! Actually, they look different from the ones I previously had, so I am anxious to get these going!
The ones I had before looked like big golf balls. Yours look like real small red potatoes. I wonder if there are different varieties?
Thanks again!

The ones that plague Florida are brown and range in size from golf balls to baseballs and are brown and bumpie if that helps.

Jan, that's the kind I had before.

I got Badseed's and am thrilled over them, but I still would like some of the Florida-kind ones if anyone has them!

Thanks!
