I keep telling myself I have no more room for trees...but I sure keep buying them! LOL I try to stick to small trees though - unless I have a special spot for a big one. In the last 2 weeks I plopped in...
- Yoshino Cherry (very pretty and small ornamental)
- Pin Oak (very big, but the wildlife will thank me for the acorns :)
- Red Flowering Dogwood - Very pretty, small - near front of house)
- Bald Cypress (sort of big, but out in the open yard so it should be fine)
I swear I'll have a forest around my house before long. It's going to be awesome within 10 years. Many of my trees are starting to get big enough to look really good. I'm cheap so I rarely spend more than $20 on a tree, so that means small usually. Sometimes though you can find good sales near the end of the season or you can find them cheap at WalMart if you take the time to find one worth having (not potbound, etc).
More trees going in :)
hczone6, Good for you planting trees. I think that is one the very most important aspects of gardening. For everything trees do for the universe. the birds love trees. that is the first thing i did here when i moved 10 years ago. There was absolutely nothing here except sagebrush and grass. DonnaS
