Thanks so much for a useful link. I never even thought about using cuttings to get more Crape Myrtle. I've done far too well with stem layering of hydrangeas: need more friends to take some. Also have had great success with stem layering of azaleas. Good gardeners need never be bored! I added the link to my Favorites list.
