lillies stems eaten

I keep finding lillies that have grown perhaps a foot high chewed off at the bulb level, but neither the stems nor the bulbs are eaten. The stem is left lying next to the pot. Are these slugs? Squirrels?

No not slugs.. Squirrels ?? Maybe, but I don't think so (we have tons of them, and they dont bother the lilies) .. but what about deer, rabbits ?? they do damage to our lilies.. try some kind of deer preventer such as Deer-Off or Liquid Fence .. will work on smaller anmials like squirrels and rabbits, too.

Sorry to hear about your lilies...

sounds like rabbits have been eating them..

Sounds like rabbits to me too. I haven't found that Liquid Fence did much to the squirrels, unfortunately. Or maybe I just have especially tough little chitter-demons.

I vote rabbits as well. I've got the same problem. Just be aware that the Liquid Fence is pretty potent smelling while applying and once dry the odor is indiscernible to we mere humans, but the hungry mammals can still smell it.

Thanks guys. I was mystified. I will look for the deer repellent. The people at HD suggested moth balls, which I don't think will actually deter any creature.

Just moths I suppose. LOL

And humans.

Go for the Liquid Fence.
