I would like to know if, at some point in the future, we could do a search based on specific plant criteria, such as:

Search:
Hardiness: 5b
Sun Exposure: Full Sun
Bloom Time: Late Spring

Using a pull-down menu with the options in the PF, we could search according to our specific needs.

What say ye?

We can do that now under the advanced search option. I used your criteria and found 3, 272 plants that qualified.

Oh, my. Wow. How come I never knew this? :) How long has that been there? :)

Mmmmm, pretty much forever ;o)

Seriously, it's been there for at least a couple years. Your question does point out the problem in having two searches called "advanced" and the navigation problems in getting to this search ability.

Well, as much as I'm on this site, you'd think I'd at least have stumbled upon that ONCE. Gracious. Well, I've missed out on things before. Brent says I live in a vacuum and barely realize what goes on around me, so I suppose this just proves him true. :)

Smiln,

It's not just you! I haven't been able to figure this out either. I was so happy to see this post this morning! I'm fairly new at this and there is so much info that I've had a little trouble navigating it all to make it useful. Right now, this site is more of an "obsession" for me (according to my husband - lol). I spend hours here and have never figured out how to do that search. Thanks for asking. I was feeling too naive to ask. I can't wait to look up goodies for my shady spot under the hollys in the back.

K,

We need to email each other with our questions. :) That way, no one else will know how dense we are. :)

Nawwww, look at it this way - if a few people aren't brave enough to admit they don't know everything, how will the rest of those suffering in silence ever get answers to the questions they're too afraid to ask?

Oh my ... I can't believe this! I've been stumbling around for 3 months! There's sooo much to learn at DG, and y'all are right ... it's an obsession. Thanks so much for this. Too bad there can't be a class on DG for newby's! Now even though I don't know what I'm looking for ... I can look for it!! *big smile*

I also have problems with the plant files, I have no idea half the time if I am putting in a Common name, family, etc...I just keep plugging till I either find what I need or look it up on the web..So don't feel bad about not knowing what's there andhow to use it!
