Yippee/Ugh??????

First day of work, today.....after 12 weeks off, following a layoff! Hope the plants survive without me! Hope I survive without them!

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5b)

Glad to hear you're back to work. Layoffs are no fun (except the time spent in the garden). I think we depend more on our plants producing than they depend on us. I went out of town for about 4 days. It about drove me nuts...I knew I was going to miss a new bloom!
Julie

Every time I leave the farm for any amount of time (even if it's just for an afternoon), when I get home I rush out to the garden to see "what I missed while I was gone".

In April, I sowed my entire garden, and then left for 3 days. When I got back - EVERYTHING had germinated. What a shock when I returned!

Talon - have fun at your new job. New faces, new places, and new opportunities.

Wow! You must be so excited to be back at work! Congratulations! You couldn't have had a better time for a layoff, though - right at garden planting time!

See, There's a bright side to everything.......it just takes a
little time to show up sometimes.

Congratulations on the new job and new adventure, talon5!

Hey dave719
You're certainly not the only one! I'm out at first light (my favorite time) and several times during the day, and of course, one last stroll at dusk. You just never know what you might discover.

I know what ya'll mean...I go to the garden a minimum of a dozen times a day just to see what may have happened in 30 minutes or so!
It helps that we are self employed right here on the property!

Congrats Talon5! I hope you enjoy your new position!

Thank you, everyone! I lucked out, and got a job in a pretty good place, by the looks of it! Nice people, nice pace. So far, so good! I DID enjoy the time off, but things are so slow right now, jobwise, I was starting to get worried if I'd even find a job before my unemployment benefits ran out. Now I can breathe a little easier.
Hey Dave, even ran into a couple of OLD faces! Sometimes it's a very small world! But it's always full of surprises!
Thanks again everyone, for the kind thoughts.

What industry are you in, Talon? Who are you working for now?

One thing funny about the Dallas/Richardsoon Texas telecommunication industry... everybody knows everybody, and whole groups of people switch companies all the time.

In the Linux industry, switching jobs means nothing. You're always working with the exact same people, no matter which company you are with.

Dave

I'm a Quality Technician/Lead Inspector. Just got a job contracting for General Dynamics, Tactical Communication Systems Division. My last contract was with Johnson & Johnson Orthopedics, inspecting knee replacement implants and related surgical devices. J&J was a real rat race, next to what I'm experiencing now! This is MUCH better!

ain't it the truth tho?
