Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Arrrrrggghhhhh!!!!
I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick a football!!
LOL! You lucky gal! Mine look good and I hope this is the year to see them.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

This one froze at Christmas, didn't have leaves for months, then grew 4 leaves. Now it's flowering. Which reminds me, there are two big pups lying under my bouganvilla bush, I forgot to plant them.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Mine is blooming without leaves.

Beautiful blooms Susie and Ada. Can't wait to see what the nanas look like.

Beautiful! Who needs leaves with those type of blooms. What did you feed those guys? Nana Bloom Booster!! Well done Susie and Ada.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Kin, mine didn't get any food until now. It was blooming laying on the garage floor. LOL

Whitewater, WI

Congratulations Susie and Ada..... you ladies have mighty persistent nanas.... :)

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Thanks, SD

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

WOW. What blooms. So pretty. So was it in a pot on your garage floor, Ada?
Do either of you have a pic of the entire plant? It looks so odd.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

So beautiful. Susie sent me one and I guess we just have too much rain here...it went to Nana Heaven.... :`((( sob. Yours is gorgeous Susie...really beatiful!

Carol

Thanks Ada! I will now encourage my Nanas to bloom by just placing them in the garage on the floor...LOL
I'm dividing another one tomorrow so if you don't hear from me for awhile you will know they took me off in a white jacket.

You have the most beautiful flower.
Kaleem

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Carol, I don't think they like a lot of water, but your soil drains so fast they should grow. I should start getting pups again soon, I'll have to start you another one. This time, we will let it get rooted a little better before it makes the long trip across the water!

Knoxville, TN

Suz, I am GREEN with envy!
Mel

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Then you need to come visit Mel(and bring that AeAe nana for a visit to sunny south Texas)

Knoxville, TN

OK Susie, I will just rent a semi a stroll down for a visit! Better yet, you can come up here and get it!! I miss nursery hopping with you. You gotta know the good stuff is coming out now. Haul that horse trailer up here!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Aaaw rats! that horse trailer is a goose neck and it only fits behind Bill's truck(and that F-250 is HUGE and I can't drive it)! Wonder if I could tie that nana on the top of my car and haul it home?

Knoxville, TN

Hey Suz, I bet your remember how packed my car was everytime I drove away from your greenhouse! We can tie that sucker to the top and no one will notice you have a nana on your roof! That just leaves more room for plants. I am sure Bill will be thrilled for you to bring home a load of plants!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

He's always thrilled, lol. He loooooooves plants! Wonder how much wind-damage that nana would get between TN and TX? Guess I'd better bring some burlap to wrap it in. Bill does like banana plants, he said they are food crop, they make good nana pudding!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Mel has an AeAe??? Gosh, do not give one to Susie, Mel. She is an Ae Ae killer. LOL! So am I!! They were so expensive and they lived such a short time. Send Susie the nana pudding and send me the AeAe.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Don't listen to her Mel(I'm being framed again).

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Mel likes me, Susie. She wants me to have an AeAe. Right Mel??? LOL

Knoxville, TN

Yes, I sure do like you Kell! But, don't tell Susie!!! She has been trying to steal it since it was just a pup.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Kell, don't believe her, I was framed. She didn't trust me, she wouldn't let me be alone with it long enough to get it to the car!

Knoxville, TN

Yea, Yea, Yea, Susie. I would like to see you sneak it in your car now! It is 11-12 feet tall! I am sure no one would notice!!!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

ROTLOL Your girls are too much!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

11 to 12 feet? It must be so happy. Please take a picture so I can see it, Mel. I love the looks of it. And do not trust Susie, she knows how to pack a car. Whoosh, and it will be gone.

Knoxville, TN

Kell, I'll look up a picture for you. Since I kept the nana in the garage for the winter...(too tall for the greenhouse), she just put on a beautiful new leaf and we had an awful storm and her leaf broke. She is in rehab now and I'll get her picture when she recoups.
You are so right about that Susie! She can nab a plant in the blink of an eye!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I've a feeling I'm being double teamed! I'm being framed I tell ya, framed!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

We all know you too well Susie.

So you kept your AeAe nana in your garage, Mel????? Sans light????? And it lived??? Well shoot, I must be living wrong. I babied mine like crazy, gave it flourescent lights to get it thru the winter. I think it lasted one month and the top just fell off the roots one day. Keeled over. THUD!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Kell, I babied mine too and it did the same thing. I think we babied them too much, we should give them "tough love" like Mel does!

Knoxville, TN

I hear you Kell! Carol was kind enough to send me a total of 3 AeAe's. (Thanks Carol!) I pamapered and babied the first 2 only to watch them die a slow and painful death. I was so heartbroken! The third one she sent was propagated by tissue culture and it has never skipped a beat since the day it arrived.
I let it go dormant and it hung out in the garage all winter and as soon as I took it out, it put out a HUGE beautiful leaf! Tho I felt a bit of grief when the storm knocked the leaf off, there in one right behind that one!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

WOW I need to get one that is propagated by tissue culture. So they are hardier? Too cool. I hope they are cheaper too. LOL

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Susie or Ada if either of you get a pup on the Chinese Yellow please save one for me. I lost mine. Thought it would perk up after being planted but it is a gonner. I am finding lots of things aren't coming back that were damaged in the hurricane but continued to grow after and things I thought were dead last summer after it are coming back now. Makes no sense since all were in the GH and still growing when they were put in there.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That is so weird Donna. I am sure I have another pup, I've got them stuck all over the garden. They are so slow to put back out after freezing. I had thought they were much hardier than regular bananas.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Donna, I'll be glad to save you a pup.
