Hi all. Finally back from our trip to the Prairies. Always good to be home in your own bed, and of course, we can take credit for bringing the good weather back with us! We certainly had our fair share of weird weather while we were gone. Travelling out, we hit snow and fog on both the Coquihalla and around Lake Louise. Hail, snow, rain, and wind in Saskatoon, about 2 days after a beautiful day of 27 degrees. And a horrendous windstorm in Regina. Then a bit more snow outside of Calgary.
MIL's 90 th birthday went great and all had a good time.
I DID get to Dutch Growers in Saskatoon, but really had to restrain myself!! Beautiful plants and outside decorations. But when you are driving a PT Cruiser, and your husband buys a welder, not much room to bring extra stuff home!!!!!
DD managed to keep my plants alive, but I need to do a little TLC with them today.
Linda, both Whiskers and Valley Sunshine have grown and look good, so have great expectations for them. Sandy, sorry the elephant ear has not grown. Of the three bulbs, only one has grown, and it is quite slow. One small leaf has appeared, but it looks somewhat stunted. But a second leaf is now starting to unfurl that looks much better. IF the bulb does not grow, we will have to arrange another trade of something else.
Sounds like everyone had a wonderful time at the RU!!!
Happy Spring everyone!

Back from the Prairies!!!
Welcome home, Glenda. Thanks for bringing the good weather !
Heather
Sorry the weather was soooooo typically prairie on your trip Glenda....it does however sound like you and your husband had a marvelous time!!! Ü
Isn't Dutch Growers wonderful?!?!?! I *really* miss living in North Battleford esp. when spring comes and we aren't making our annual trip there. :( It has grown sooooooooooo huge now and the selection there is to die for. On a positive note however Regina's Lakeview Greenhouse was bought out by Dutch Growers so there is hope for us southern Saskatchewan growers now! Ü
Welcome home Glenda
Sounds like other than the weather you had a great time.
I've got goodies here for you from the RU so we'll have to catch up soon. BTW my EE's that I planted aren't doing a thing. Maybe they take a bit longer to get started...
Welcome home, Glenda! Great pic. I spent many happy hours playing at the WDM as a child (my dad has worked there for close to 30 yrs). In fact, I was in their gift shop just yesterday afternoon, buying some Saskatchewanabilia (?) with which to adorn my new office.
Dutch Growers is in fine form as always, aren't they. We went there on Monday - came home with 3 daylilies and assorted other perennials...too soon for annuals at most of the greenhouses in the city although one of the ones on Valley Road had a few. Everyone kept saying "come back in three weeks" ....wish I could! lol
My plane landed in that snowstorm in Stoon last week. It was nice weather after that, but bet you're glad to be back home just the same, eh? Hopefully we'll get to meet one of these days.
Shannon
Pam, thanks. Yes we did have a great time except a hotel nightmare in Saskatoon which I won't go into because it woudl just take far too long!!!! Dutch Growers really is a great place. DH's mother loves to go there for lunch, although she really doesn't care about the plants!!! Where is the Lakeview Greenhouse in Regina? I dont' remember it. I lived in Regina for about 18 months in 1998.
Linda, I'll give you a call or e-mail and let you know when I'm in town and we can get together. I'm still in catch-up mode here. Always so much paperwork to do, and then check all the plants and make sure all is well, etc etc. My second elephant ear is doing absolutely nothing, so I guess I'm lucky one of them seems to be coming.
Shannon : SASKATCHEWANABILIA??????? LOL I Love it!!!! I bought some great t-shirts for the family at the tourism office. The ones I bought for the kids were a very nice blue, with the words, SASKATCHEWAN, Hard to Spell, Easy to Draw!, and then a sort of finger painting of the outside boundary of Saskatchewan. The tourism office has clothes, and books etc for what I thought was a good price.
Here's hoping for continued sunshine and great plant growth!!
