Did anybody buy the new double orientals last year? Can't remember where I saw a picture of them but I DON"T LIKE THEM> Probably from a dutch supplier.

Double Orientals
I did see them at VB, Lily Garden and Lily Nook. By any name, they all look about the same ~ pale pink.
Interesting, I suppose, but they just don't make me say "Wow" like lilies usually do.
I'm not a big double lily person at all. I just got Fata Morgana, Aphrodite and Sphinx and that's probably as far as I'll go on doubles until the aesthetics improve greatly in my mind's eye anyways.
Broke down and have ordered
Miss Lucy, and a couple of orientals. Just to try.

Of course, dear. ;)
Well, we HAVE to keep up with new things, don't we.....
Inanda
i'm with Brenda. Have had some of the db.'s for a few yrs., but am not impressed with them.
I like a lily that says LOOK AT ME!!!!!
Good luck.
Maxine
I agree, Maxine. They also say "Ain't I sumthin?" But I must confess that I did put in Aphrodite this year.
Ginny, you just wouldn't be 'Inanda, who sometimes thinks out loud' if you didn't have a complete array of lilies! ;)
Its like this see. I jest GOTTA have some of everything.
Also ordered - gulp - the beauteous Nepalense. Will grow in a pot so I don't have to cut it for NALS in July.
Think I spend more on lilies & Iris than I do on food/toothpaste/cleaning things etc. You know, the normal things you buy every week.
Inanda
inanda
were you on a spending spree??
can't wait to see those lilies in bloom
Cleaning things? What that??
Just can't stop the buy buy buying.

Oooo....nepalense. You do have to send me a photo. Wasn't it you that told me those are really hard to grow?
And...uh...I must confess......a couple of months ago I added up everything I spent on gardening last year (plants, bulbs, tools, mulch, soil, etc) and.....welll....if you take into account that the gardening season here is about 7 months long from April - Oct then....well....yeah.....I spent almost as much on my hobby as a monthly average as I did on food and clothing combined.
My kids could be wearing some really nice tennis shoes..............
But the little devils would only out-grow them.
How could one possibly compare smelly shoes to nice smelly flowers?
So true! See! I knew there was a reason I bought lilies instead of shoes for the kids. Thanks, Moby for helping to keep me straight.
My pleasure, dear. We all need a little guidance sometimes. ;)
Yea, I wanted to grow the Nepalense here in our area, but was told by a man who is the Pres. of our N.W. lily society, I would have to grow it in a pot as our winters are too nasty for them to survive.
So , regrettfully, I said NO.
Have enought house plants with out another one. Also they send out runners I am told and they end up maybe where you don't want them.
Will post on another want when I check the name [proper spelling]
Maxine
Anyone have a pic of the Napalense?
Thanks, Wilma. I've never seen those before....they're very pretty.
mgh
yes they sure are pretty,
I will have to look around at the garden nursery and see if I can find it somewhere..
I just might need it for my collection,,
