Does anyone have experience with growing this shrub in California? I think it is pretty much a back east plant. It looks kind of intriguing, but I'm thinking it might get blasted by our over 100 degree weather in the summer.

Sambucus elder "Black Beauty"
I planted one last fall, but it hasn't done anything yet. It is in sand in a moister part of the garden, next to some others like it. This year should tell. Sambucus mexicana took a couple of years to really get going, so it may be the same with this one.
