yellow violet seedpod -- need help

Endicott, NY(Zone 5a)

I have one yellow violet that I bought at a native plant sale last year. I want to collect seeds, but something has eaten two of the seedpods. Is there a way I can protect the remaining seedpods until the seeds are ready? I have other flowers going to seed in the same bed and they are fine. Thanks! Billie

I don't know about this species, but many species of violet produce special incomplete flowers lower down under the leaves, which produce viable seed, so you may get more seedpods as well as the ones you have now. Sorry that doesn't answer your question, but may be useful.
