have you seen Mars?

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Mars is at it's closest to Earth in over 13 years. From the Northern Hemisphere it is almost due south around midnight (UK time). it is the second brightest object in the night sky. the other is what is left of the moon.

we have clear skys tonight here in Northern Ireland and we can see Mars clearly. in fact right now, 00.15, the western skyline still isn't dark and it's a lovely shade of blue.

must hit the pit now!

It's been overcast for ONE ENTIRE WEEK here! Ack! It seems to be clearing up this morning, though. Hopefully we'll get a chance to take a gander.

Another celestial worth catching is the new Space Station!
I happened to be driving home, on a dark highway, one night a month and a half ago, right after the weatherman had announced it was visible.....and WOW....was it BIG!!!!!
I never saw anything so big, sitting stationary in the sky before, other than the Moon and Sun. It looked like three or four stars clustered together....but VERY bright!
I almost ran off the road, staring in amazement!
