Help! My Brugs look sick

Northridge, CA

i'm a fairly newbie gardener but love my garden. I have 3 Brugs and they are just not doing well. Any advice from you experts would be appreciated. This is my first post here as I am a new member. Thanks!

Could you post a picture of them or give more details as to what's going on with your Brugs?

littaboycat, welcome to the brug forum. I hope you find out what is wrong with your brugs, but as Ada mentioned above, it's hard to help without details or pictures. Have a great day. I hope your question is answered soon.

well I don't know what is going on with mine either, there are NO bugs, I watch the watering, and yet my Brugs are dropping their leaves every day, and the leaves look quite healthy no discolor, and no wilting. I even added a Humidifier thinking the air may be too dry.

Doris, I had same situation with my smaller rooted ones here, the ones I got during February...we were talking about it earlier...the top leaves pretty much stayed, but the rest dropped off. Well, as of this week, 3 of mine are starting little green sprouts of new leaves. I have had the semi-bald sticks for 6- 7 weeks now, but I just kept taking care of them the same as the bigger ones I have coming out of dormancy. It makes me think that some brugs go through that transport/transplant shock, especially early in spring, (Jan-March) and it may even be a defense mechanism of the plant to conserve energy by dropping leaves to concentrate on getting rooted in a new pot. It took 5 weeks for the first one to come around ( now there is a bit of growth every day,) almost 4 weeks for the other 2 sticks, and one of these had no leaves left at tall a month ago. I was sure they were dying, but hopefully I was wrong.
How long have you had these that you are worried about?
In comparison, the 4 brugs I wintered over have lost no leaves, as a matter of fact, they are already growing well, and they lived in the same pots all winter. I will continue caring for them all the same, i.e. watering, fertilizing, and see what happens. I keep thinking that if I can only get everybody outside once and for all...

I have had mine about 3 to 4 months, they also are getting tiny new leaves but I hate that they lost those nice big ones, sure will be gald when I can get them outside.

I know what you mean....I hate it too! I am thinking it is the time of year and the transplant shock.
I hope they do really well for you once they move outside!

I lost more cuttings this last 3 weeks than I did all winter. Just a small percentage, but of course they were special!! Some were started months ago, some new. The same thing has happened before about now. I cried about this elsewhere, and found it seems to be super common for this time of year. Changing seasons? Light fluctuations? Humidity changes? Bacteria or virus coming alive with spring? Internal clocks gone mad?? Maybe combinations. It's little comfort to know you aren't alone. A European Friend referred to February as "the dieing time" for brug cuttings. Here it seems to be march :( Such a lovely batch of Rothkirch cuttings too!
Raid flying insect spray in the blue can as a very light mist has been an effective control for aphids, mites, and gnats (but not the larva) here. A water meter is really cheap too, if you wonder that you might be over or under-watering. Good luck!

Speaking of Rothkirch ;)
We need pretty pictures now, to remind us why we go through all of this, yes?
