Joining the ranks with my first bloom

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Welcome Gini!!!!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

That's what I'm counting on Linda. The flower has probably fallen off by now. We have finally gotten good weather and I've been outside dawn to 10 or 11 at night since Sat. I did give those brugs in the window a twist yesterday and noticed we're feeling pretty 'light'. Still haven't gotten around to watering. Tonight (hopefully) is indoors... water, repot, do bills, etc.. Of course if it's not raining AND if the wind isn't blowing I'll probably be right back on that hoop house I've been putting together. If everything goes right, I'll have it skinned and move everything outside by this weekend.

Oh Gini!!! LOL One of my favorite places! (That place will tear a hole clear through my purse to my wallet in 2.8 seconds LOL)

It was calm when I got home last night so I grabbed a drop light and immediately went back and started skinning the hoop house. Got it finished and the doors hung just before the wind started kicking from the North and the rain moved in. All I've got on it now is primer/sealer, so this weekend I'll be painting and stuff. Cosmetics.

This is looking from the back deck. 10x12 was bigger than I thought when it came time to figure out where I was going to put it.

Looks great!!!

Ordered the 10x12 kit from HoopHouse.
It only comes with gh plastic, tubes (electrical conduit!) for the frame and stakes, hardware and instructions that drove me to drink.. more. Hate it when I get a wild hair to tackle some carpentry project. It irritates me when I can't get things to meet my standards and without the correct tools the 'square cuts' are stretching things a bit when I get done. :0

So I had to buy the framing lumber and plywood sheets to make the end gables. The cutouts for the windows were used to build the doors. Brugs and stuff are going taking a road trip in the next couple of days. :)

As soon as I went last night the wind picked up from the north (from the rear) and it's gusting 15-25mph. HH was still there like it didn't even notice, so that was a good test before I jumped the gun and filled it with plants.

Blaine, you deserve lots of extra points for putting your HH together yourself. And, you did a great job, I think it's wonderful and looks much more sturdy than many I've seen. My GH is a hand-me-down from my son, who bought it for a 6 foot pet iguana, Iggy Pop, who didn't care for the demotion to the new digs and left without leaving a forwarding addy. The son left on vacation and had some carpenters put it together - they worked long hours several days and told me that never, ever again would they tackle another GH, as they drove away in the sunset, to the local liquor store. I'm not sure a person could get through that kinda project without a little nip or two, ya think??!!

and snickers too boot!!
I did enlist my buddy across the street to help carry the end gables around, set on the ground stakes, then hold for me while I put temp braces on it. April must be my bite-off-a-big-chew month. Last April I overhauled my son's old room and told myself I had to finish that before I could play outside. Well, first time laying laminate flooring, cutting all the angles to replace the moulding and add chair rails as well, plus some other things I had no experience in... it was "fun". But I get total control since I fixed it up and NO ONE gets to sleep or hang out there unless I invited them. (kid's friends don't count as guests) In the mean time it's a great auxiliary plant and aquarium room. :)

I see how the better part of members get to talk about the wonderful DH who does marvelous things for them. I met the enemy and he is me!! Oh well, the DW leaves me to my vices outside, puttering and starting new projects. Instead of chiming in like so many how her DH does nothing but watch sports on the couch all day, she complains cause I don't know when to come inside. :) (oh, and she also questions the vanishing grass, more boxes in the mail and when I crank up the bass on the garage stereo and it starts shaking things off the wall in the house)
