I got sent to Disney!!

LOL Well guess nobody is allowed to post the name Davesgarden in Gardenweb anymore.

Plainville, MA

It is kind of a shock, isn't it? My trip there came as a surprise to me!

Maybe DG really stands for Disney's Garden?!?!?!?!? LOL!

Philadelphia, PA(Zone 6b)

Wow, I guess the other web guy is still brooding...nothing hurts the soul more :(
Trish

I think it's more like he forgot to remove davesgarden from the bad-word-list. I think everybody has long since gotten over the GW fallout that happened a month ago.

I wish you were right Dave, but I don't think Spike ever removes something from the bad words list once its on there. I've been keeping an eye on a post on the Aussie rose forum about the new rose forum 'Timeless Roses' set up, if it disappears I'm going to be even more disillusioned than I already am.

Well I don't really care since I can still post there. I posted ok once I deleted the word Davesgarden from my message. I was surprised tho when it happened. oh well life goes on, What will be, will be . Be Happy, Guess I'm still in a good mood. LOL

Begonia......I had quite a good time trying to find ways to post Daves Garden over there after I was banned. Got a great message on just had to delete the first letters of each word. *aves *arden got on along with a nice message about how everyone is over there and how nice it is and for everyone to come on over. It was posted long enough for some people to see it then it just disappeared!
Nothing ever happens like that over here.
Enjoy.

This is an easy problem to solve. Instead of sending them to davesgarden.com, send them to:

http://www.gardenersland.com/

Same thing!

Dave

That might work, but for how long? Webmaster might hit the link to see where it takes his users to, then gardenersland.com will be on the no no list too.

I think everyone here should add a signature file to any outgoing email messages. I myself need to do it too.

The best thing to do is to tell any and everybody you trade with about DG and the fact that it is free. I also tell them Dave is a really nice guy. I have talked a number of people into signing up here at DG.
The other thing to do is as we start going to plant swaps in the spring we can printout labels or cards of some sort with DG's web address and give it to everybody at the swap. Every swap I've been to has a sign in sheet. Put a piece of paper with the cards inviting people to visit DG (and the fact it's free) next to the sign in sheet.
If everybody on DG does that this spring by July we could have maybe 1,500 or even 2,000 people here at DG. To get to 1,500 each of us only has to get 2 people to join.

BTW some current and former GW members have told me that ole spikey pooh lives in an apartment. What kinda gardener is that?!?! I say we forget about spikey pooh and work on making DG a happier and friendlier place! :)

Dave what about selling hats, shirts, and the like? good advertisment.

Sari

I'd love to sell hats and shirts, especially as we get into Spring and people start going out to all the meets and stuff.

Trish and I had actually went out and looked at the embroidery machines so we could make our own shirts and hats, but they were far above our budget.. :( Now I'm looking into a printer who can do it for me.

2 years ago I had a company in Fort Worth, TX make some shirts for the business we were running at the time. They printed 200 T-shirts for around $900, and I was very happy with the quality. I then sold the shirts for $15 at conventions and tradeshows, and did break even after I sold 50-60 of them. After that I started giving them away to friends and fans of the company.
