LOL........yep I think we have a little ways to go yet. :) I would say mine is 3 feet of solid frozen ice hiding under a foot of snow with another storm on it's way (t.v. screen has been flashing red warnings all day yesterday and today).
Here's mine in storage (notice one bag just says Big Pond......I really hope I can get them all id'd again this summer.......Imma praying for a warm and sunny summer!

Water Gardening
Lilypon
do you put them in peat moss when in bags?
maybe I should try the way you do it next year.
It is peat moss that is slightly damp (I put about a 1/4 cup of water in the bag). Dad and I found it worked very well and I don't even look at them again til I take them out or take a picture. ;)
Wash them extremely well before planting and setting them back out in the pond again. I should note they were bare rooted before I placed them in the bags in the fall (be prepared to be very wet and cold.....esp. if you put if off until just before snow is due to fall). :S
There are thirty bags in the fridge (it is a laborious process getting them cleaned).
My father stores his in a fridge and a cold storage room and has found both work well.
Pam, have you grown lotus??? I have two lotus seeds sprouted, doing very well, and wondering what kind of container to put them in. I think I should get them into some dirt before I go away for 2-3 weeks otherwise they will be growing out of the bucket of water they are in.
Glenda
How large a plant will they be Glenda?
edited to say I've grown a miniature one but have read up and followed threads on growing full size ones.

This is the one I have. I have tried to grow them in the pond before, and they got a few leaves and then nothing. So I will give it the old try again, and see how they do.

I know the tubers are very fragile and the one I grew I grew in garden dirt. The tips can be broken easily and if that happens to a really young tuber chances are it will die. I grew mine in a large black rubber dog dish (found it at Peavy Mart, it's the same material that cattle troughs are made of and it holds heat really well).....since yours is a large one you will need a container the size of a garbage can that's cut in half. They have to be grown in a round container so that the growing tip won't get stuck in a corner. I didn't put mine in the pond, I grew it up on the ledge.
In your zone it will be fine in the winter but peeps in lower zones should only look at growing miniatures since the tuber should be handled as little as possible and both the lotus and the container it was grown in will have to be lugged inside and out.

Thanks Pam. I will have a look around and see what I can find for a container. From what you say, perhaps I didnt' put mine in large enough containers before!
Thanks for your help.

How much will y'all pay me if I sneak over in April and get a pic of her in those waders! LoL!!
LOL, You Go Girl!
Plan on joining me in the pond Joelle??? :)
we could put it on the tote or T for the moose jaw ru next year?????
lolololol :b
$20
that would make a good picture.
When I see the picture, the cheque'll be in the mail....
MJ sounds like a good place for next year, but maybe in late spring? I wilt in adverse weather, which means anything with white stuff around, or temps over 90. yeah, i know, I'm turning into a wuss.
Not likely. :b
Someones camera will be taking underwater shots ;)
.......man am I going to be jumpy this spring. :b
Hey Joelle how many can you handle??? ;)
Now Joelle, that's a good propect, taking underwater shots of just how Pam does plant her water lilies. You get above AND below water shots, there's another $10 in it for ya. Maybe you can sneak up on Plam if you're behind some plants. LOL
I'd pay to see those shots! lolol
MJ sounds promising for '06. We could check out the Snowbirds, the spa, the tunnels.... I haven't been there since our high school band went (via a 6-hour bus trip...bleah) for a marching band contest....I vaguely remember getting in trouble for being an innocent bystander ;-) to some kind of ruckus on the hotel balconies.... hmm.
Lots of other worthy RU options around too, when the time comes. Aside from the west coast, is there any month or any location when we can guarantee it won't snow? :-)

OK Y'all! I will give it a try! I can just see her in yellow waders and a big floppy straw hat on her head. She will be holding a slippery pot in one hand and trying to push those dark curls( natural too I think?) out of her eyes with the other! She probably would throw me in if she saw me coming!
MJ has a lot of tourist attractions- but summer is a must - spring to cold and wet- sloppy! I would love to start saving to go to Canada Blooms one year.
BTW does anyone else watch Train 48- I don't go out of my way to catch it, but boy I laugh at a few of those people!
LOLOL Imma gonna be wearing the skimpiest bathing suit I can.......there is no way Dave will allow posting of that pic! :b
TEE HEE!
I never seem to be home when it's on. I did catch it once, but a couple of the characters irritated me...lol...so got a bad taste and didn't watch it again.
My Botany prof went to Canada Blooms - she said there was too much emphasis on certain genera for her taste. I think Campanula was one of them. Oh well, can't please everyone eh? I think it'd be interesting to see once. But, would we have to spend the night in Toronto? ;-)
Bedtime for bonzo....good thing tomorrow'll be a short day at work. Day before the long weekend....you know almost every government office will be empty by 2. Talk to you all later!
Shannon
I'll save you the trouble Joelle :)
Here is me (picture created on this site: http://avatarmaker.abi-station.com/index_en.shtml )
Hmmm.....those look like coloured contacts to me..... lol
Yep, thats what she looks like, glasses, blue eyes and lots a curls!!! Didn't know she wears green shoes though! I think the bucket could also be a book- either way. lol!
