Some seedlings from friends...Thank you so much!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm so proud of my babies and wanted to show them off... I just had to try this method of boiling the water and pouring it onto the soil a couple of days ago before repotting. Thanks for the inspiration Ada! I am truley a die-hard brug mom now!!! The neighbors thought I was crazy, especially my FIL....LOL!

Thanks Kell, Kyle C, Linda Thorpe & Kristi for the seeds.

Here's some of Kristi's....I really like the bag idea. These are on the sunny side of the screened in porch to conserve on electricity.... It's working best for me so far.

Looks like a big ole nursery. Good luck with them come spring

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

BrugAddict, I leave my black plastic pot setting inside the tub until it cools off. The soil needs to set in the hot water then I take it out and let it drain. It'll be heavy to lift until the water has drained. LOL

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Ada, I left it out there in the sun with a couple of bricks underneath it so it would drain better after cooking the soil and lifting it out LOL! It did cool off eventually! I had to try that....it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be on my back, but I didn't fill it up but half way with dirt. If there was anything living in it, it's dead now LOLOLOL!

This is alot of fun and it's so exilerating and refreshing to see babies grow! Now if I can get my little grandbaby down here, then I could watch her grow too lol! I'm having the ole' empty nest syndrome I think :(

Here's some of Kell's seedlings

They're looking great. Yes, you need that grandbaby there to spoil. LOL

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

lol Ada, I'll give them a couple of months....he'll need a baby sitter. Right now the moma is alittle skiddish about bringing her out on a trip. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz at birth, but she dropped to 6 lbs. 8 ozs. and still hasn't gotten up to her birth weight yet. They changed her milk and she's gaining it now. She was up to 6 lbs. 12 oz last week. From the sound of her this morning over the phone drinking her bottle and eating every 2--4 hours, she should be gaining fast. LOL I've only seen her twice since she was born on January 23 :(

Here she is the second time I saw her....I had to put this dress on her lol....it was too big but I needed to ....well you know...play? lololol

She's beautiful. I always wanted a little girl I could dress up and make clothes for and just spoil rotten. LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Your seedlings are looking great, but that baby tops seedlings any day. What a sweetie. I'd be having some fun too, if I were you.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you! I'm workin' on it lol....I think they are talking about coming up next weekend, I'm hoping she'll still be tiny the way she's woofin' down her bottle feedings LOL!

Shhhhh don't tell but lol....I've even tried to bribe them to babysit..."don't you two need to go out for dinner and a movie??" lololol....hehehe

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

BrugAddict, she is a little princess. I hope you get your baby sitting fix and lots of cuddle time in soon.

Your Brug babies look great, too.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks Plantfiend, she is more tiny than my two were.

Thank you for the compliments :)

BA ~ The picture is adorable, I'm with Ada...always wanted the girlie to spoil with girlie things.
God bless her, she is just precious.
Jackie
Seedlings look great too!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

lol yeah, she is adorable!!!! My DS say's she has a little round belly now lolol! Can't wait to see her again!

My DH got me some plastic eggs last year at Walmart that were on the close out rack. He thought this would be great to start my seeds in. Well, he was right....It has the little holes on top for air. But actually, after planting seeds the first time, the airholes only provided a way for knat to get inside. So, then I tried it with the plastic bag wrapped airtight. It worked!

I had to see if I could do the pollinating thing...SO, These are some seedlings as a result of a pod that stayed on my brug over 4 months LOL....it never turned brown, it never got mushy, so I had to experiment with what I had. I opened it up and let it dry for a few days. And to my surprise they were ALL viable.

She's a doll. Unfortuntly new parents don't want to share. I didn't realize it until lately but I see a lot of that. Bribery will get you everywhere. LOL

Jeanette,
My DIL is not making this easy for me at all! Why is it that the mother-in-law has a hard time getting some time with the new grandchild? And this is my first too :-(...I'm hoping she'll come around later *crossing fingers* You hit it on the nose though.

Here is Hailey's feet and my DS and DIL's hands at 2 weeks old

Julie all your babies look wonderful! Congrats on Hailey -- she's a beautiful baby!!! We welcomed Madeline Rose on February 2nd, but we haven't gotten to see her yet. Hopefully we'll get to go visit them around Easter...

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Gretchen, congrats to you too on your new grandbaby!! What a beautiful name Madeline Rose, Wow, I love that! Thank you so much.

Where do they live? I do hope you can go on Easter. It's killing me not to be able to see Hailey and it's been 2 weeks since I saw her. And boy was it hard to leave her too :(

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Well, congrats to both Julie and Gretchen!!!!! Granddaughters are swell, I have five and three were just here to say good night. Girls are lots of fun. Hailey Michelle is VERY alert for her size, full of life, and a very mature expression for a tiny baby, she is adorable!!! The hands/feet photo is wonderful, I love it!!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Congratulations on your Brug seedlings and your precious grandbaby!

Wish I had girls to spoil too!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Sherry thank you! It took a VERY long time to get her to actually make that face too LOL!
She's alert when it's time for her diaper changing and feeding time which was coming...I had to keep snapping pics to get the pic to print out that I wanted... lololol The feet and hands shots weren't so bad though cos she was feeding then. Her moma was holding her and a friend visiting had to hold the bottle to her mouth lol! I know how Anne Geddes must feel now!

Thank you Shirley!

Let the spoiling BEGIN!!!! lololol

Your seedlings look great too and it looks like you'll have lots of planting to do this spring.

Congrats on your beautiful GD!! She is precious!!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Love the photos, she really is a living doll. :)

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Oh, dear, talk about addiction, I'm afraid there is no hope for you Julie, lol. There is nothing like a first grand, well, except the second, et al...

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sherry is right. Just wait until you have six of them. Your priorities sure do change. LOL! However, as they get older, you will get back to what it was like before grandchildren because they won't have as much time for you with all the friends they have to spend time with. Then they move away from their homes so when mom and dad come to visit, the kids are someplace else. It's a cycle we have to go through. LOL! Such is life. Enjoy them while you can.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

You're right, Shirley then we go thru the empty nest syndrome again. LOL

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh boy, now that is a depressing thought isn't it? Yes, I am going to savor every moment when I can that's for sure. Brugie, you just described the honest truth of how things happen.

Thank you Terry, Donna (PG), Hellobebe, Sherry, Brugie and Ada!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, my moma was baptized today, it was great!

She will look completely different every time you see her - even if she lived next door like mine did...

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

They certainly are little miracles of life. Julie, your mother is a nice looking lady. You have a nice looking family, all the way around.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Hailey didn't mind having a nice warm bath from her grandma lol...she actually looked like she enjoyed it! So did I!!! It's been ummm say 19 years since I did this. This is bliss!
