I saw a news report yesterday on the world's largest flower, Titan arum, commonly called stink flower or corpes flower. I was wanting to know if seeds from this plant family are available. I thought the newsman said that some would be up for sale but at a limited quantity. Also I am trying to find out information on the U.S. worls seed bank. Would like to find out what they do with their old seeds and if they give or sell any of them for project research. Thanks Ella

I am no expert on this plant but I think it is in the Amorphophallus family. I have a small Konjac bulb that I purchased and it will be a few years before it blooms.I never heard of seeds from these plants so you might want to check on getting bulbs.I have been looking for some time for this paticuler bulb so if you have any luck locating them please let me know where it can be found. Hope this helps.

Hi, this just bloomed in the hort dept of the Univ of Wisconsin, if you are interested I can try to get some info. It did not sound like seeds were going to be available to the public. But I can check for names of the people involved if youlike.Marcia

This plants bloom grew an average of 6 inches a day. The flowers smell like a rotting corpse, that is why it is called 'Corpse Plant'.

There were very interesting efforts made to hand pollinate this plant. Blooming plants have not been recorded in the U.S. in the last 15 years, yet three of these bloomed this year. The Wisconsin plant was propogated with pollen sent from a plant in Florida that had just bloomed.

That is a very interesting plant and the link from Cena is amazing! Where would you put a 9 foot tall plant that smells like a corpse in your garden! It is so neat looking you would want to showcase it but with that smell I sure would not want the scent wafting through my bedroom window and into my dreams!
