I'm rather fond of parables; I see them as stories which get a point across without being too heavy about it. Here is one for you all - a true story!
I was in a garden centre last week, just mooching around as usual, and there was a shy kind of man there, who hesitantly asked for help from the one sales person. Just as she was about to help him, a couple arrived and interrupted to ask her a question. The garden centre was very small and the conversation very loud - it turned out that these people, a man and wife, were staying in the town in a house which belonged to a non-mainstream Christian community. Delightedly the salesperson said she too belonged to their group, and immediately offered to help them plan their garden, rushing to get pen and paper, and forgetting all about the humble little man in the corner, of God knows what religious persuasion - after a few moments he quietly left, and I stood there thinking - before my eyes, a Parable. Make of it what you will!
A Garden Parable

Oh, Vinca,
I've been all of those characters. The one I hate being the most is the couple. Thanks for an eyeopener. This is a story I'll never forget.
Vinca, what a lovely parable! Thank you. I've been all these characters at sometime also.
