Most excellent! I sure hope they do well for you.
TO EVERYONE I SENT SEEDS TOO.
I have yet to hear anything from anyone reguarding these seeds germinating yet. Has anyone had 1 sprout yet? I'm beginning to worry that not even 1 has sprouted yet. I know it's probably very early to worry but I must have sent out 2-300 seeds to different people, I'd be sick if nobody got any of them to germinate. If for some very odd reason these seeds don't become viable, I'll replace them with more seeds from my first fruit of the season which shouldn't be more than 2-3 months. If the plants come up as thick as they normally do, I could probably send actual plants out to you all if need be.
I found my 1st P. Incarnata plant of the season yesterday when my wife was running the garden claw through one of our beds! DOH!My 1st shoot of the season and itsa goner!LOL There will be plenty more where that came from in no time at all. They're so well established now in some places in the garden, I find "runner's" as far away as 15ft. from the flowerbeds in the middle of the lawn!LOL The mower makes quick work of them, I just had no idea they could shoot out runner's like that. So you've been warned;). This baby once established can go absolutely crazy but it is easily controlled by just pulling them up out of the ground. Man if only all my other Passie's grew so well!!
This year I'm going to plant some Lavender lady and P. Caerulea along the foundation n the S. side of the house. I have canna's that live through winter in that same spot so Passiflora's should live too. We'll soon see.
Please report any germination to me asap if you get a chance.
Thanks all, JD
P. Incarnata seeds 4 trade.
I'm watching them like a hawk, nothing so far.
Jeff,
Don't worry - in a short while, there will be so many Passie's out there - we all be goin' crazy.
Oh - and I anxiously watching mine. But on a bright note - the stragler I had inside all winter has grown 15" in my GH in a couple of weeks.

I have a feeling I'm jumping the gun a little as usual. These are notorious for their long germination times as that seed coat is rock hard. Don't give up. But just in case, I'm starting many cuttings of many different Passies this week and I started a tray last week so I should have a bunch of many varieties before too much longer.
Thanks all, JD
JLD, I did find one up almost 2 inches. Don't know how I missed it yesterday. I had written "Jeff's passion flower -naked". What does that mean? Sometimes I can't read my own writing.LOL Is naked the name, or did I write something else?
LOLOL Lizh
Maybe you were fantisizing? I dunno where that would of come from.hahaha YEAH! I knew those had to be good seeds, just thick skinned as usual!
WOOHOO You made my day! I'm flattered about the naked thoughts too fyi;)
LMBO! JD
I've been watching mine like a hawk, too, Jeff, and maybe it's a case of a watched pot never boils !! I started P. Caerulea seeds at the same time and no sign of activity from them yet, either. I'm not worried :-)
Carolyn
OK, I have my "right brain" working. I remember one of the seeds looked different, like the top coating was gone, it was almost white.
So I wrote (1 naked) Maybe that was the one that come up early.
Mystery solved. LOL
This is my first time to start them from seed. I would think JLD_ll would know.
LOL Liz. I know what you mean when you say naked now. I threw in some of those white seeds just to see what would happen, they still had the hard seedcoat the black seeds do. That's very interesting that the "naked" seed germed first, I thought they may have been sterile even though they came from the same fruit. The white seeds were just a fluke and I have no idea why those very few seeds turned out white. It was very odd to pull them out of the fruit, there were maybe 10 white seeds in 100 of the others, I'm at a loss to explain them.
I wouldn't peel at the other seeds or aything, just keep them warm and moist and they will eventually germinate. They're just the type of seed that takes the longest to germinate.
I'm having the same slow germ times with many datura's and a few other seeds per usual. I'm at week 5 with over 50 sites of diff. datura seeds and just 2-3 days ago, I noticed almost every site has seedlings breaking the surface.
I guess you "need to be patient grasshoppa, the time will come"LOLOL> Sorry, that just popped into my head.
Keep thinking positive and know they will sprout, that speeds up germination times everytime;) The power of positive thinking is a very powerful source.
Keep me posted and thanks, JD
:}...lol
I would love to have some of your seed if and left. I have lots of vine seed. I have a beautiful blue pea vine also others LMK
i would like to know if you still have some passiflora seeds , i would really like to have some , Here in Canada they are harder to get that in the states . i could send you a SASBE . hopping to ear from you . thank you
Arlette
I have new seeds from this summer in hopes of making many trades. I took much more care in collecting and cleaning this years seeds. Most of the ones I sent out last year didn't have a very high germination rate which is very odd. But this summers will be better since I cleaned them now rather than waiting like last year.
I may have seeds from other passion flowers to trade aswell.
let me know what you have to trade and we can work out as many trades as possible;)
Thanks for your interest.
JD
