Hello friends, long time no see. I've been laid up for awhile then I had pc problems that have kept me away but I'm back with a serious case of spring fever!
I have a bunch of P.Incarnata seeds of the most colorful Incarnata plant I've ever seen. The mother's origin was on the edge of a pasture in the Red River Valley along Lake Texhoma growing wild. Now I have it growing everywhere and I need to start trading for cuttings, seedlings or seeds of most any kind of different flowers. Some of these seeds would/should be hybrids but I wasn't able to keep track of them all well enough to document who's whom.
I'll also have seeds of other Passie's and other misc. flower's from our garden. I'll post those when I go through them this weekend.
Anyhow, I can be reached at jdavis493@sbcglobal.net. Just email me and we can get the ball rolling.
I have a BUNCH of catchjing up to do reading posts etc.. I look forward to talking with my old friends!
Thanks all!
JD
The picture posted below isn't a very full flower but it was 1 of the better shots I had at the time. I placed the flower on top of a sedium hybrid I believe. It gives you an idea of the color. I have noticed some are more purple than blue and vise versa. They're all beauties non the less and are incredibly hardy.
P. Incarnata seeds 4 trade.
That's a beautiful picture JD. I just love Passion Flowers.
I find passiflora to be absolutely amazing looking flowers. Yours really is lovely and hypnotic. I'm going to try germinating some passiflora caerulea, as they are hardy in my zone. Can't plant outside until late May so in case they grow like crazy in my mini-greenhouose, I won't start them until early-mid March.
I'd start the seeds right away. Some are very slow to germinate. You can always pinch them back to keep them from getting leggy and that will give you a bushy plant then. Once outside it will go like crazy.
I know I should be starting some stuff too, but I'm just not in the mood yet. LOL! Good Luck.
I'm trying to get myself motivated as well. Spring will be here before I know it and with the varying germ times and Passiflora's, the sooner the better IMO.
Let me kno if anyone is interested. I'd happily send some out for SASE too. I'd happily pay for postage but my SS disability income doesn't go very far these days. Thank goodness for the generosity of our club here or my gardens would be sadly bare.
I should have a bunch of them. Last fall, I picked a grocery bag of fruit off these vines so they are fresh. Oddly, Sometimes I'll open a piece of fruit only to find it completely hollow and others are jam packed full of seeds. It has been months since I've looked at them so when my wife gets home tonight, I'll ask her to bring them upstairs for me and I'll start tearing into them. From the past years, 1 piece of fruit can yield probably 50-100 seeds(a rough guestimate) so if only 1/2 of the fruit has seeds, I should have plenty to go around. I will post here ASAP on the status. I'd go grab them my self but they're stashed in a place that I can't reach from my wheelchair. I'll let you and everyone else know as soon as I know.
It is lovely!
I would like to try some. Do you have any left?
I still have some left for trade or SASE. Email me and we can get the ball rolling.
May I have some too, please! Elaine for SASE
Sure I'll send you some too. I'd rather trade if at all possible but not everyone has ttrading material. Email me for my addy;)
I love sharing genetics, it makes the world a happier and prettier place.

I wondered where you have been. Missed you and hope you are doing better. Glad to see you back.
I have one plant that I bought last year, had it in a pot and in the fall I dug a hole and put the pot in. I'm hoping it will come back this year. It is the pale blue. Would love to have a few seeds from you. I'll send an email, to get your address. Thank you so much. lizh
What a great picture! I'de love try some of yours JLD. I've been starting some every spring for the past 2 years and even brought 1 in for the winter this year, althought it doesn't look tood good right now. I've never seen the bloom, that's my goal.
I'll email. Thanks
Joanne

Would you happen to have seeds from Passiflora caerulea (Blue Passion Flower)? If so, I'd be happy to send sasbe...Let me know...
I'm not sure if I have any caerulea or not. I know I harvested some fruit last fall so I may. I have the majority of my Passion flowers at the local highschool's greenhouse for the winter. I let them use my plants for propagation expiraments and I get to overwinter more of my plants for free. I'll go up there asap and look for more fruit. I'll be taking more cuttings to I think so if that goes well, I may have some rooted cuts to trade. I'll keep you posted.

BEEEEutiful! Thanks for keeping me in mind for this vine.
You've got mail.
I have to put this offer on hold until I fill all the requests I have out now. Don't worry tho as I think I will have more than I need so keep looking back. I'll mail out all requests I have now ASAP and will take more then.
Thanks all, JD
Below is a picture of Blue Caerulea next to my Incarnata. Don't let the size fool you as I think over all, they are the same size. Just not this particular photo.
If I havent responded to anyone that has contacted me on hese, please email me again and remind me. I've lost track in all my requests but I'm trying. I apologize if I've forgotten anyone, I'll get on it asap.
Thanks, JD
I received the seeds today. Thank you so much. You are very generous. Going to be busy tomorrow.
Your all very welcome! I hope you enjoy this baby as much as we all do. I know it stops people in their tracks around here. As long as you give it something to climb, you can plant in front and around it too. It hasn't choked anything out here, I grow canna's, elephant ears and other flowers less than a foot away w/ no problems. I have a telephone pole in 1 of my gardens that is new w/o any nicks in it for the Passie to grab ahole of. I'm goint to get someone to cover it top to bottom with lil nails as I bet it could make it to the top in 1 season. Now if I can just get somebody to do it for me! Man I hate being stuck on the ground! MY main complaint but I spose I should be happy that I can still roll around my gardens huh? Somebodies always got it worse off than me...That's been my mantra lately as I try getting thru all this mucky/muddy yard of mine;) Darn dog's!
Adios all and have a great weekend. JD
Hi,
I am fairly new here and havent posted a list yet but I would love to get some of your passie seeds...I have a few Maypop seeds but I know they arent fresh so I dont know if they will germinate or not. Please let me know if you have any left...
Thanks,Karen
Well I think I've sent out all the seeds I told people I was going to send. If I told anyone I would send and did not send. PLEASE STRAITEN ME OUT ASAP;).
Well I still have enough seeds left for a few more people so contact me if interested. I preffer trading for anything out of the ordinary but will happily give away for SASE. Just shoot me an email so we can get things rolling ASAP...It's darn near time to put plants out for the last time and leave them out until fall.WOOHOOO! What a relief that will be!I gotta get this jungle out of my house ASAP as my summer clothes are blocked in the end of my closet by the growlamps and plants.
Has anyone had any luck with any of my seeds yet? Gosh I hope so as they were very fresh. Germination results would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all! JD

Still interested in seeds from this gorgeous P. incarnata plant! Can send SASE today :) Let me know.
Most appreciated would be the Blue Caerulea so there is fruit to harvest as well. Am trying to plant more edibles in the landscape.
Thanks,
Sue
JLD, do you have a plant that you would care to trade, I am not to good with seeds and I would love to have one of these vines,
Thanks,
Vi
Gerris, be patient as these guys can take a long time. I am suprised that none have germed yet tho. I never start anything in paper towels or baggies, I always use a peat/vermiculite soiless medium for planting seeds. I guess I always figured the paper towel thing is just adding 1 more step to the process. I also wonder if starting them in a soil or soiless like medium doesn't have any advantages from a microbial aspect? I wonder if something in living soil or the like doesn't play a role in speeding up the germination process?
Are your paper towels in a warm place? I know a heat source plays almost as big of a role as moisture in sprouting seeds.
Man that bums me out that none have germed yet. If you don't have any luck, I'll have tons more seeds and actual plants here before you know it. I'll get you fixed up 1 way or another. I have read in more than 1 write up that many Passiflora seeds take anywhere from 1 month to as long as 1 year to germinate so don't be discouraged yet.
Soozer, You have mail. I don't have any Caerulea seeds, the yard critter's stole all my fruit except for Morifolia(which I killed off, it was disapointing and I don't recomend it) and Incarnata. The only reason they(squirrels) didn't get all the Incarnata fruit was due to the amount of fruit we had on those vines. I don't think saying we had 1 thousand pieces of that fruit grow over the summer would be an stretching it at all. I have soo many different vines of that 1 growing all over. It hides an easy 50 yards of 6ft. chainlink fence all summer and that is just 1 place it's planted. I'm putting some at the base of a telephone pole this summer and I bet it will grow to the top well before summer is over. Sadly this pole is so new, it doesn't have all the splintered holes on it from lineman climbing it. It has never been climbed and is so smooth that nothing can grab ahold of it. I'll find something for it to grab onto tho 1 way or another.
Strech, I'll have more of these plants than I'll know what to do with here soon. I would be willing to dig 1 up and send it. Do you happen to have anything interesting you may wanna trade?
JD
You have mail
JD,
You are the best! Thanks so much for all your advice! I will do my best to get these babies to wake up, I use the paper towel method mainly to be able to observe the seeds directly. It is such joy to see the roots on the germinated seeds, I know I sound deranged but it is a dominant trait amongst us gardeners LOL!!!
Joseph
LOLOLOL Jo..I've been there using paper towels too. Itsa more instant gratification thing, you see growth before anything is really growing yet. Man you think your deranged!?! Try to imagine a 6'4" guy at 240 wearing tyedye rolling around in the mud in my wheelchair picking through mulch trying to get a peek at whats beginning to come up. Luckily my backyard is well sheltered and there is a lake back there instead of houses or I'd be seen on the deck drinking my morning java sorting through all my seed flats full of cuttings and seedlings in my undies. I do have 1 nieghbor that can see me and I've been doing this so long, its never an issue anymore. I get asked if I'm cold these days and an occasional compliment if I'm wearing my bright striped boxers! I need a check up from the neck up but that's common knowledge and the norm anymore.
Deranged? Hmmm.... I guess I've been called much worse...Let's just say we're exceptionally curious and observative. That's why our garden's keep the nieghbor's green with envy and all my inlaws coming over almost ever weekend like I'm running an observatory. They no longer make fun of my mess of a jungle all winter when I'm working under my artificial sun.
I tell ya...Having that 1000 watt metal halide growlamp running in my bedroom all winter sure keeps the sunshine deprivation at an all time low! It's well worth the extra 20$ or so per month in electricity bills to keep it on. I run many automation gizmo's in this house(I love www.X10.com !) so my growlight is on a remote control. When the coffee pot kcks on, so does the artificial sunshine and I get to make it dark whenever I wish. LOL

The seeds arrived! And I have a batch of compost (in the Tumbler) that will soon be ready!
Thanks so much!
