That is one cool picture Donna :)

Amazing. Don't you think its eye looks human?
Great Kristi. I am so jealous!!
Yes, and its face too if you can overlook the feathers....it's skin reminds me of what someone looks like a few hours after a "chemical peel".
that's why I took the pic. It was just to cool not to.
That was too funny
All I could think of is WHY would someone take a closeup of a muscovey...LOL
never thought of looking at the title of the thread
I was waiting for you CC to come and win. I figured you would know!!
That is the ugliest bird I have ever seen! Sure looks like Jimmy Durantes' nose.
yep they are pretty ugly but you have to admit that is one cool pic. especially the eyes. As a birdwatcher I take pics of all birds/waterfowl
That was an excellent pic Donna. The eye doesn't even look like a bird eye, more human looking. Weird!
That eye is sooooo spooky that i can hardly stand to look at it. The photo is excellent, but that dude ain't for me...
I agree. Kind of freaky.
What's the saying He's so ugly he's cute lol.
I think he's beautiful!
I don't like it, but then I didn't like my son's iguana either...I like sweet, cute and fuzzy...
We had a scorp outside of a Tesco's when I was little that people fed to the point of her not being able to walk. Eventually an older lady coaxed her into the car and took her to Midland (between Glasgow and Edinburgh) somewhere. I found a picture that is very similar as she had magpie like markings as well.-Bagpypr
I have no clue what a scorp is Bagpypr, but I was so afraid the end of your story was that the older lady coaxed this fatso bird into her car and ate the birdie for her dinner. LOL.
I was wondering the same thing lol
Hey, thanks Kin, lol...
Gosh, I thought I was up on my birds, the hubby is an avid bird watcher, but I've never heard of a scorp, with exception of a scorpion and they do not have feathers - however, the scorp is considerably more attractive than the Muscovy Duck! But, ya know, I'm from Arky...
Great minds think alike Donna. LOL Or is it sick minds????
Must be a Scottish thing as we have different words and such. I don't know what she did with it but I hear they are used for pate' du foie gras. We call them mussle scorps because they eat the mollusks that are around the lochs. They don't swim very well either. So what do you expect from a bunch of people who refer to stealing cattle as " Snaflin' coo-beasties"???
Oiche mhath a-nise,mo caraidhs-Good night, my friends.-Bagpypr

I hope that my orthography was spot on with the French pate' du foie gras. My French entails just enough to get me drunk or slapped. Sometimes both. G'night
ROFL Bagpypr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have never guessed it was a bird OMG!
wow, donna. congrats, kristi.
looks scary though!
Ya know, muscoveys are not really Ducks
thought they can breed to a duck
but they are their own spiecies
Its believed that any muscovey X duck offspring will be infertile
they also hiss
not quack
nice and quiet
best setters there are
I have even used them to hatch chickens
had to take the chicks away as soon as they hatch though
for obvious reasons
and show muscoveys have lots more of the red carnicles all over their face
the more red lumps the more points the judge's gives them
and they are HUGE compared to the wild barnyard ones
the females have more normal looking faces
and they make great pets
i'm sure this was WAY more than you ever wanted to know!
LOL
and forgive my spelling, too tired to spell check
I bet you are tired CC! Hopefully your life will be much better soon.
I love hearing about the birds. All very interesting. So why did you have to take away the chicks from the fake duck?
How many ducks do you grow Donna. LOL. Do you call it growing? Sounds wrong.
No duck growing here Kell except for what next decides to use my shrubs, trees, and nest boxes. I have Bluebirds, Carolina Wrens, Cardinals, Mockingbirds, Brown Thrashers, Great-crested Flycatchers, Chickadees, and Titmice that nest in my yard. Have yet to find a Blue Jay nest. Guess they nest next door in the wooded lot.. I do buy 5000 meals worms every spring to help feed all the babies. The Bluebirds let me sit within 5 ' of them while they get the worms for their babies because the Mockingbird will come and take them all if I don't. Smart birds.
I think they are native to South America
so since brugs are too this picture belongs on the brug page and we should all grow them along with the brugs....lol
also they like to perch, mine always nested up on stuff, never on the ground. They also liked to perch on the barn roof
and they have CLAWS
Kell, had to take the chicks away cause she would take them swimming........
chickens don't swim well......
oh that's to funny CC. Swimming Chickens lol
CC, I never would have figured that out. That would be a good question on those trick questions that go around the net to determine your IQ. Needless to say, I avoid taking them for the truth is better unknown. LOL.
Donna, the other day in NJ, I saw a bright red cardinal on a bush. I was so surprised. I went to grab the camera but as I got back it took off. Its wings a blaze of red. I was so shocked he was in NJ in the winter. I guess they do not migrate.
Kell,we even have Cardinals all winter up here......
Yep they are all over in the South to North East Kell. They are getting their bright red spring plumage now.
They are truly a beautiful sight.
