I'd be the same as you Joelle, as long as it tastes great, I don't need designer chocolate. Would probably prefer the Mars Bar. I'm so chocolate sophisticated.
Isn't it great? And it's such a beautiful old store. I think there's still a crack in one of their display cases, where an impatient customer had whacked her cane on it at one time.
Soooo is anybody ordering from Botanus?
I will have to take a look and see if there is
something I really want and need,
What's need got to do with it, pickle? Check this one out. Took all me nerve to push the send button. There's no 'edit' option there.

I think I was very polite.

I always visited Hortico when living in Ont. Every time visiting RBG. Even when going to RBG from Winnipeg always visit them. Wonderful plants but you have to dig around for them. Things mailordered from their list often were not quite right (remind you of anyone else) ??
Do hope John can fix things as the trees & shrubs were particularly super.
Ginny
Well I think, if he's going to come on a garden website looking like a fellow gardener, but actually advertising for his company, he should go in the Watchdog and answer some of the people that had big problems, like our own Yumiko. Makes me too leary to order from them.
LOL oh echoes wait until Spike sees Garden Watchdog......echoestoo will be history! Do you have an echoes3 waiting in the wings? ;)
no it will be echoesalso. I've noticed other people mention the Watchdog in threads, and nothing seems to happen. Even came across one the other day, when in desperation I went there because Dave's was down AGAIN, that had a link to their trade list here on Dave's. Spike must be getting lazy.
Was just working on maybe putting together a Botanus order. Noticed they have the Double Decker echinacea for 5.50, 2/10.75 and 5/24.75. I think that's the best price I've seen it.
Or else Spike doesn't have a spy right now on the Gardening in Canada forum. ;) I wonder what will happen tho when the Hortico rep visits his thread again.
I hope he'll have the right answer. I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering. Of course he can just go and say "this issue has been resolved" under each complaint like some have done, and if it was a while ago, probably get away with that. Most of those members probably don't got back to look.
Excellent echoes, blunt but restrained and loaded with gunpowder. A rose called by any other name is still a rose - except when doesn't get delivered or is dead when it arrives. I think your post will be fine. I have seen the Watchdog mentioned in a few posts lately. For some reason GW has done an about face on the Garden Watchdog thing. It wasn't all that long ago that I had a post rejected because I mentioned the Garden Watchdog. Baddd Me!
Along the same lines, there was a hilarious post on GW regarding Ty Ty Nursery - a nursery with similar issues. Their website this year is a little more restrained and corporate than it was before but if anyone was familiar with the old layout you will really enjoy this post. I don't have the link but do a search on Ty Ty and photoshop and you should find it.
I really have a hard time understanding the complete disregard some of these companies have for their clients. I mean you can fool some of the people some of the time, but eventually they will discover Garden Watchdog and tell two friends and so on and so on. How long do they think they will stay in business by alienating their clients and creating an avalanche of bad feedback. Must be some sort of bizarre experiment?

you were very polite echoes and yes i have ordered from botanus - way too much i am afraid
Yes I am going to order from the big B, Stuggart Canna for sure - best price I have seen this year. Joelle
Think maybe Spike recognized that the GardenWatchdog is a constiution that's not going away and everybody is going there anyway. No response, so it will probably just slip off the bottom of the page.
As for Ty Ty, that is the most interesting Garden Watchdog one I have read. I started here, but I'm sure there are others. http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/alabgard/msg0623211330663.html
Makes Hortico problems look bland.
Botanus - Even though I have some disappointments with this years catalogue, I still found too many things made it to my want list. That bag of 10 very pretty Brunello Asiatic lilies is a good deal, and Vivaldi at 5/5.75, such a nice soft pink. And I have to try a couple of trumpets again. Oh dear, and I still have to make my list for Holes, and Lindenbergs. It's not hard to order too much, even at reasonable prices. I guess that makes it all the more tempting.
Check out the canna 'Giant Yellow Wonder'. Gotta get me one of those!!!

echoes you posted:

I think I will get this plant too. It is listed in the Vesey's spring catalogue for 2 roots $7.95 or 6 for $21.95.
Whew! This catalogue shopping is hard work...
Susan
I ordered a white cactus dahlia from Botanus on January 18th. Still hasn't arrived. Starting to worry.
It is very hard work. Just when I think I have it all decided, I find something else, or go look at another catalogue. Back to excel I go. List, sort, highlight, sort, list, highlight - it's almost over.
Where do you see Giant Yellow Wonder?
Donna, just email them and ask when you could expect it. They are usually very good in responding.
Hi Echoes, the canna 'Giant Yellow Wonder' is the one that was pictured in the GW thread you posted above my last post and just below the man with the machette. Hope that makes sense?
Oh yes of course. I saw it back then. Forgot, thought you were talking about Botanus. There were some real funny things on that thread.
There must be a rat amongst us. The GardenWeb thread about Hortico and the wonderful plants and roses is gone. Poor Mr. Hortico must have decided it wasn't helping his promotion.
T'weren't me! :-)
LOL....nor was it I. Mind you the rat could belong to GW or it was the rep himself. Have you tried to log in again? And if you did were you sent to Disney???
I'm still logged in every time I go there, until I erase my cookies. I haven't tried to post anything though. Usually don't have too much to say over there.
Ijusted posted on GW and didn't get sent on a trip.
Innda
Yes, but you didn't recently mention the Garden Watchdog, or get in Mr. Hortico's face. You've been a good girl.
Did reply to that thread though.
Good girl. You mean my halo is enlarging?
G
I did not get to see that. Oh hooo. Maybe that's why it was removed. Of course, your halo grows and glows more daily.
soon she will be growing wings, and guess we will have to call her
