Thanks, Gary! I've long had problems germinating bell pepper seeds. I'm going to experiment a bit. I wonder, too, if the age of the seeds might be a consideration. I have some from the 2002 crop I'd like to grow out.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

On one the links above that I read, it states that often the age of the seed is blamed for poor germination when it is not always the case. So give it a try!

Woodland Park, CO(Zone 4b)

The age might be a consideration Yuska if the seeds were stored at high humidity and high temps. Otherwise they should be just fine. I've found that peppers unlike maters, take longer and appreciate a bit more (bottom) heat to germinate.

Louisville, KY

Yuska, I didn't see your reference to germinating Pepper seed until after I sent you that e-mail. You might try soaking the seed for a period of time before germinating them.(two year old seed should not be a problem). The very important thing is bottom heat for pepper germination. Read this reference on germinating and growing pepper seed: http://www.zekes.com/public_html/germinate.html
Wishing you success with your peppers.
