i don't have enough experience with the seeds that you mentioned but have definitely made the mistake of giving up on seeds too eartly, to find that they sprouted on the compost after i tossed them out...sometimes they take a long time--but there are so many other factors. the butterfly bush might need a dose of cold, but i'm not sure- but just because they do self sow outdoors some, they may like that stretch of winter. good luck! i hope someone who knows more than me can advise you!

Chelsea,

did you check the Plant File? It's full of great information (including the three types of seeds that came from me LOL)!

Tropaeolum tricolorum:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/62232/index.html
and http://seeds.thompson-morgan.com/us/en/product/6782/1

Sisyrinchium striatum:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2188/index.html

Rhodophiala rhodolirion:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/85175/index.html

Growing plants from seeds requires a high dose of patience! This is not like instant coffee, LOL. Some seeds may take even over one year to germinate (this is not the case of the aforementioned).

Good luck!

Hi brandnewgirl133,

I've had a wonderful success with Ursula's seeds of Tropaeolum tricololum .
I sowed them on September 22.2003.
They germinated on Nov.5. 2003.

And now they are starting to bloom.
Here are the photos which show thier growing.

Hello, Tomtom!

Your pictures are great and would be a wonderful addition to our Plant Files, as well as a short comment on how these are doing for you. Now would be THE right time to do so, because I have sent out lots of these seeds to many DGardeners that are looking for information to sow/grow them.

What size is the tuber? Could you post a picture of your flowering plant as well?

Thanks!

Ursula,
Thanks a lot for your encouraging words.
This success is solely due to the quality of your seeds.
Yes,I'll never forget to post the pics when they're in bloom.
Wait a while please.
