How do I plant Montezuma Cypress seeds (Taxodium mucronatum)

I recieved a bunch of Montezuma Cypress seeds aka Taxodium mucronatum.
What is the proper way to sow these seeds or best way to optimum success in planting these seeds. They are very small and smell kind of like pine nuts.
Anything would be helpful.

Hi George,
If they are gummy, soak them in alcohol for a few minutes to clean them. Then you should get good results by stratifying them in moist sand or sphagum in your refrigerator, or soaking them in cold water, until spring, then planting them about 1/2 inch deep in a moist medium. Remember never to let them dry out once you start this process.

When I germinated Taxodium distichum seeds, I got the best germination from seeds that I sowed in pots and put outside for the winter - no pretreatment of any type. I just let nature do its thing. I also had success using Guy's instructions, too, but I just didn't get as high a germination rate from those seeds.
