Onions.
Finally started
Oh, CC--I've been lurking here and loving your progress. And I love the shot of your property from the south.
Are you going to put up a nice sign? I think so! Give yourself some credit! ;-) t.
p.s. You could start a B&B for DGers and even Charge us (!) to come up and work in your garden for a summer break! (You could put an indoor pool in one of your GH's!)
Hey, he offered the kids and me a job first! LOL I am trying to get him to move South so I can take him up on it.
Bernie, I am very, very impressed. I cannot imagine growing on a scale like that. It looks beautiful!
wow bernie thats alot of babies you have going there!!
they all look healthy too.
tabasco,
We are looking for help, e-mail me if you are serious. We pay good help well.
Don't need swimming pools here, lots of lakes. You know, Minnesota, Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Chele, that greenhouse of yours ready to go ? We may need overflow room! LOL! They are transplanting Impatiens today. I heard something about 65 flats.
I am working on getting the other house ready. Will need that Monday.
On Thursday next week, we go after our cutting geraniums & accent plants, 2182 plants total!
Gee, we do need HELP !
Bernie
LOL Bernie, my home and greenhouse are always open to you. :O) Just send me anything that will not fit in your greenhouse mansions. LOL I just got the sidewalls on and the lower roof. I only need the rubber insulation and auto window openers to be complete.
You know, these "city greenhouses" are much harder to build then those mansions you have. LOL I can hear my seeds sprouting already. :)
Bernie, look awsome (as usual). Showed my DH and told him I'm gonna hafta kick it in high gear - your a zone colder than me and have more started (lol)
Do you grow Wave petunias? All of mine germinated well except for the blue - very low, about 20%
I'll contact Park Wholesale and tell them...thought you might have some words of wisdome (smile).
We do Ramblin instead of Waves. we like them a lot better.
I've been doing this for 20 years now, so have all the planting times figured out. Except for every time we do something different, it fouls it all up. LOL!
Most things are going as planned. Our sales will start about April 25, so these things have to have flowers by then.
Tomarrow we go pick-up our cutting Geraniums, New Guinea Impatiens & lots of accent things. We are also trying Calibrachoa for the first time. I hope it works because those little suckers are expensive. There is a lady about 60 miles from us that starts this stuff, so we save the shipping cost on them.
We are getting something like 2200 plants altogether.
What part of the state are you in ? I have long lost relitives in sw corner of Indiana. My great-grandfather lived in NE IN until about 1840. Then they moved to SW IN. My grandfather had 10 brothers & sisters. He & 2 of his brothers moved to central Minnesota in 1904. So the rest of the family still lives in SW Indiana & SE Illinois.
Some day I may venture down there to visit some of them.
Bernie
Bernie, if you are ever in our neck of the woods I hope you'll stop by. We are half way between South Bend and Fort Wayne. It is Amish country around here...
My husband grew up in Greenville Ohio and I was born in St. Louis. We both just ended up in this area about twenty years ago. It's been a great place to raise our kids. Love the country.
Just transplanted eight flats of coreopsis and hauled a load of wood - getting ready to order a small RO water system for my mister. Got twenty flats growing under lights in the basement and 42 more that need to be started. The greenhouse is about 1/3 full of 4 X 4 pots of various perennials (sure hope I can sell them).
omg bernie it all looks heavenly-all i see is SNOW here!
I hope your sales are wonderful this season
looking BEAUTIFUL Bernie.
Bernie, where do you buy boxes for your tomatoes? I found some at cropking.com but was hoping to find some cheeper ones. All I can find is boxes for hydroponic tomatoes. Fancy boxes. All i want is plain heavy duty fruit type boxes for local shipping and a way to ship them to the markets to sell in those produce cups.
We use the stryofoam grape boxes. Of course we don't ship any, just sell them all ourself.
