Should I wring all the water out of it?
Do I mix it with any soil or no?
DianaT didn't say to mix it with soil.
I'd better go back though our e-mails and the rose rooting thread.
How much does it swell up when the water is added?
How much water should I add?
I bought this,cause I thought, I knew what I was doing.lol.
I don't want to mess these wonderful cuttings up.
I'm trying to root some rose cuttings.
It's getting late, hoping someone answers this soon.
I want to do this tonight.
Hoping for help soon,I can't find DianaT.
Thanks,Jody
Has anyone used coir before...to root cuttings?...roses even
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/471934/ is one. lol
Wash 3 times is all I remember, Sidney
Hi Jody! Sorry I have been awol.
I soak mine in a bucket of water, then squeeze it out. No mixing with soil or anything else. After you stick the cutting in, then water it to settle the coir around the cutting. It will drain any excess out.
This is supposed to be gardening coir so we shouldn't have to rinse it. You can rinse it if you're suspicious of it, it won't hurt anything. I dump mine out over an old windowscreen sitting on top of a wheelbarrow, then squeeze it out and put it back in the bucket with fresh water, then repeat two more times.
Don't worry if the cuttings don't take, there's more :)
Diana
To lazy to rinse it,also to messy.
I sure hope it doesn't have any salt in it.
I have to do this in the house as it's only 8* outside.
Window screens great idea, for use outside only.lol.
My kitchen is a mess with all the pots and coir all over
the place.lol.
Well; I'd better finish getting the roses done.
Talk soon,Jody
