Hi inanda Ü

Nanaimo, BC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Brenda,Lynne, Pam,,Linda,Shannon, Donna,Ginny.
It was a courage to post photo of myself,..
I wish I have more time to come to the forum.

I heard a new about mud slide in North Vancouver.
Are you OK, Roselaine?
Does anyone know if Liz ok there?

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

It's so nice to see photos of everyone and to put a face to each name. I can hardly wait to meet you all.

Yumiko, what a gorgeous family you have.

Nice to meet you Ginny.

I emailed Liz this morning, have not heard back. I'm not sure where the mudslides are but they are probably very close to her place.

Yumiko, I just saw the slide on the news. One man has been rescued.
Hope North Vancouver people check in soon.

Thank you Shannon for starting a new post to keep track of the slide news.

I agree, Yumiko, your whole family is beautiful - and that includes you most of all! :-)

Anxiously waiting for word from Liz in N. Vancouver....

Got an email from Liz. She's fine. The slide is on Berkley down to Riverside. My cousins used to live on Berkley but moved 2 years ago. Pretty scary stuff. They may have to close off Seymour Parkway as a water main broke.

Nanaimo, BC(Zone 7a)

Thank you Jeanne. You have wonderful family too.
You don't look like mom that you have teenager children.
Thank you Shannon. I am a cat lover too.
My old tabby "coco" is now 17 years old! She is all healthy but
sometimes she forgets where she is.

I am so glad to know everybody in Vanouver from DG are fine.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

My husbands' two bros who live a ways away in Saskatchewan and Kitchener, BC both phoned here tonight thinking we were in the slide's trough through the mountain side...My grand-daughter's Kindergarten teacher in the same disaster area knew the woman whose body was found, deceased this afternoon. In the '80s some of these homes were built, and higher and higher up the hillside they went. you take, snow, ice, and frozen soil, mix it with higher temps than normal,......boom.......down comes the mountain, boulders and all. That's a recipe for !!@#$%. Anyhow, I'm going to watch the news again..good night............E

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I'm so glad to hear all of our friends are fine too. What a horrible mess though, and of course tragic for the family of the woman who died.

Yumiko, do you have any pictures of coco? I'd love to see one! I hope our kitties get to be that old, as long as they're healthy too.

Nanaimo, BC(Zone 7a)

Shannon, you will receive mail soon.

I am still trying to work out how to post pictures properly - this one I managed to get right so I bumped up this thread. This was taken in Mexico in November.

What a gorgeous photo, eather. The colors and backdrop are breathtaking. Where abouts in Mexico were you?

Victoria,, BC(Zone 8b)

My DH took the photo in the Bay of Banderas, Nuevo Vallarta. (I think you know this area )as we were paddling out to take some pictures of the dolphins that play in the bay. About 20 minutes after he took it we were coming into shore and a wave hit me and I capsized - digital camera, sunglasses and all ! The camera was toast but we took the card into London Drugs when we got home and all the pictures were still there. So all was not lost !! This pictures was from our room.

Heather, i'd say that's a little bit like heaven. Glad you got some fun in the sun. We've got to get intouch, I hear your plumie is budding? Mine are dropping leaves still.

Linda

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Jeanne, we were there twice. The first time right in Puerto Vallarta and the second time, just a little north of were you stayed at Neuvo Vallarta, in a little town called Bucerias. Do you know it? The the smaller places outside of Puerto Vallarta are so much quietier, cleaner and more private, right? We stayed at a little place that looked like a castle, called Monkey House, right on the beach. It was lovely. You just got to love that climate. We were there on two different ocassions and never had a drop of rain. Gorgeous!

Yes, Old Flower Girl, we walked to Bucerias a few times, along the beach (about 45 minutes) and we passed the Monkey House! We have friends who stay at Casa de la Reyna in Bucerias and we all agree that the smaller places are much nicer. I thought the market in Bucerias was much better than PV (I just can't do the barter thing). We were at the same hotel in 2003 as well, and will probably go again in the fall of this year as we like it so much. Now if there was some kind of botanical garden it would be fantastic !
This is the town square in Bucerias.
Yes, Linda I do have a bud, which is about ready to open, on one of my plumerias - I'm keeping my fingers crossed after Lilypon's experience.

I spotted this shrub in one of the gardens in one of the back streets in Bucerias and took the photo through the iron gates .

They do have lovely foliage there. It has been a few years since we were back. Don't know when we will have a chance again. So many different priorities now. After the RU in April, DH and I are off to Texas to visit our DS & DIL.
