Saving Poinsettas

Gilbert, SC

Hi guys! I'm new here so please forgive me if this subject has been discussed to death (I've searched the archives & didn't find my answer..lol)

Anyway I still have one pointsetta that still is blooming beautifully and this year I decided to try to keep it alive successfully (I have attempted before with no luck..sniff)

So where do I start? Should I keep it in its original pot & just treat it as a regular house plant? should I feed it something? (I have a wonderfully sunny florida room that some of my house plants thrive in)

Thank you in advance! I look forward to hanging out with ya'll and sharing everything !

I will tell you what I did once although this may not be what you had in mind.

I kept them in the original pots, in a nice sunny spot in the house.. They did get leggy, but stayed alive until Spring. After a transistion period so they would get used to the heat, I planted them outside as annuals! The received morning sun for the most part and they become gigantic!!!! I did not dig them up at the end of the season although one of these days I want to put a bunch in a big planter and move them in and out with the seasons... .

Thank you Nicole, I think I'll try that with it and see what happens.

I appreciate it!
