Glad to hear that everything went smoothly for you Lilypon.
Mozilla/Firefox
How is the weather in your neck of the woods Broots?
Our entire noon cbc phone in program today was about firefox; you guys are just so on top of things.
I downloaded it too, but I am still using MSN as well until I can figure out how to set up my home page with all the info I want/need, such as weather, etc. on it.
The more I read I think that's a good plan Donna.........mind you I've been really slow (been following it in the 'puter forum here for over a year now and finally thought I have to do it now).
What did the CBC say about it Lynn?

Weather's not too bad right now Lilypon. Supposed to be having a high of -6º all weekend. Night time temp's are around -25º, which is pretty good. We sure haven't been getting much snow. I really enjoy going out to shovel for an hour first thing in the morning(I know, I'm strange). Did you get the storm that hit Manitoba last weekend?
yep........check the 10cm thread that echoes started. Glad your doing *not too bad*........always wonder about you with your zone 2b rating! ;)

Lilypon I forgot to mention one thing I like a lot in Firefox. If you have a wheel mouse you can increase/decrease the print size of a web page. Hold down the CTRL key & scroll up with the mousewheel to decrease print size & hold down CTRL & scroll down to increase print size. Comes in handy sometimes.
You just impressed the he$$ out of DH and myself!!! Ü That function is truly amazing!
Cool!!!
Even though everyone's recommendations sound wonderful, I'm leery of downloading a new browser....once-bitten, twice-shy I guess. Have any of you experienced any serious problems or limitations with Firefox?
Shannon
Shannon, even though I have Firefox downloaded, I'm still using MSN as my main home page. I have soo much personal stuff there that I don't want to give up. What I like the most about Firefox, besides the Google search engine which is the best in my opinion, is that it is so fast. So if you are leery, download it and check it out. You can always delete the program later and you won't lose anything else in the meantime.
Hmmm....good point. Maybe I just needed a little moral support! :-) I'll try it. Thx Donna.
According to the very detailed conversation on our noon phone in the other day, the experts feel that the hackers will be onto firefox in no time particularly given that the source code is in the public domain. However, since there is about a 20,000 well qualified development team out there working on this software, the guess is the patches will be available orders of magnitude faster than patches for MS products or other proprietary products. Hence, bugzilla I believe and the invitation to any and all users to report any bugs/glitches/anomalies whatever. Maybe the hackers will just give up and go away but I doubt it. The closing line was "if you think using firefox will get you away from patches - think again"
I remember the great noon phone-ins on CBC 740...always very topical. They have a similar program here too, but my particular office environment isn't conducive to listening to CBC unfortunately. Thanks for the info, Lynn.
Thanks Lynn :)...too bad the source code was made available to everyone. So far it is running much smoother than IE for me but after hearing that news I will be downloading Bugzilla very soon ( if I can have more than 5 minutes at a time on the puter). DS is busy writing many reports on it lately and DD is dating a fellow that's going to college in Medicine Hat (she's a great fan of MSN now).

Hey, I bet you DD would enjoy the Butterfly Gardens, huh?
I'm thinking the same thing Glenda.......I don't think she has any idea of the beauties that would be there..
Donna...it's ok, it sounds like it's been a long day! :D
LOL......spelling errors tsk tsk
no pam it's a GOOD thing that the source code is public - it means there are literally thousands of volunteer techies working on it all the time instead of specifically committed MS resources that can't be expanded in a hurry (like when they need to program a patch from the latest attack). Be a fan of public domain software.
I am now....thank you for the explaination! :)
Public good instead of private interests....I like it!
