In answer to Pam's question. No we haven't blown away yet, but this doesn't look like 10 cm. to us. If we get a south wind it will all be in our yard. How about you. Dug out yet?
10 cm.?
Looks like you did pretty good....a nice soft insulating blanket for your perennials echoes. Not sure what our total accumulation was but yep DH and son have dug out our yard and the neighbors and the house our children are babysitting (murricans that went south for the holidays and haven't made it home yet) and the house next to it.
Note that the street has not had the snow removed nor will it be........unless a 3 foot dump occurs and then they *might* consider it. :(
Yep.....Yep.....yours doesn't look like 10 cm. either. That's what they said we got on the radio today. Think some of these people are still having trouble measuring in metric.
I agree.....I imagine it looks worse at the edge of town tho', we are pretty sheltered being part way down the hill.
Ah, inches, centimetres, at least they got the number right! :-)
Hi Donna, welcome!
Shannon
Thanks, Shannon.
:) Donna
Yes welcome aboard Donna! So nice to see another prairie member in our midst!!!!! We are sooooo outnumbered here!
I've noticed that. That's why I joined so we can kick butt!
;) Donna
Hey, did I mention I'm from Saskatoon? Leave this butt alone, you two! ;-)
It's dem BC'ers and our one lone member from P.E.I. that will have you crying on your keyboard.......they are *very happy* to inform us that they can grow Magnolias and Bananas and such and leave them outside. :b
I love your attitude PerennialGirl!! :D
Hey spklatt if your from Saskatoon, what in the heck are you doing in Quebec??
Lilypon isn't that really mean of them. I see that all the time. Here is my picture of a blah, blah, blah......sure rub it in that we can't do that outside.....but inside......look out!!!
OldFlowerGirl, I want a plate like that to....can I, huh, huh??? Isn't it a wonderful name!
:) Donna
Jest a'wanderin, Donna.... :-) DH and I are both working across the river in Ottawa. Every place has its ups n' downs, eh? One of the downs here is that darn freezing rain. Today we had a whole bunch of it. Oh, and there are rarely any mandarin oranges to be found in Ottawa or Gatineau....I don't understand it! All they have are "Clementine" oranges, which are harder to peel and, IMHO, don't taste as good. When I went to Saskatchewan and Manitoba for XMas these past two weeks, I think I ate two boxes of mandarins all by myself.
On the 'up' side here, tho', we can buy beer in the local supermarket or corner store here in QC, and there's a 86, 500-acre park just down the road. So it's not a bad place to while away a few years. :-)
I've often thought I'd like to live in Winnipeg next...it seems like there's a lot of neat cultural stuff going on there. Anyhoo, glad you've taken the plunge and joined this crazy gang!
Shannon
Amazing Shannon...thought for sure something like Mandarin oranges would be easy to find there!
Yep, Shannon...there sure is alot of neat cultural stuff going on here. We live in a neighbour that is multicultural big time. Hey if you were in Manitoba why didn't you stop by???
:) Donna
Hey, I spent 5 hours in the Winnipeg airport on New Year's Eve....didn't you see me?? :-)
No wonder we got more snow!
;P Donna
Hi Donna! I'm happy you payed up! LoL Now I can talk to you at two sites! Joelle
Sheesh, Joelle....I can't hide from you. Yep...finally! I'm such a slow poke you know....lol!
;) Donna
Hi there PerennialGirl.
I can't believe I'm saying this but we could do with a bit of your snow cover. Last night and apparently every night this week we're having -6c. Zone 8+ gardens don't take kindly to those low temps.
Hi, Liz. If you want me to ship you some....I can!
:) Donna
LOL, let me clarify that. I only need a tich of snow cover and it must only be here overnight when it's cold then be gone by morning. Nightly, for the next 3 nights. OK. Deal?
Hey we've been asking for that for centuries and so far we've been ignored. It's nasty out. Think I'll go order some seeds or something. I start my volunteer one day a week gig tomorrow at the greenhouse that is taking care of my brugs this winter. One day a week it will seem like summer.
Well, get this...DH has had pneumonia for a few days now, and is recuperating at home as he should - today the doctor specifically forbade him to shovel any snow, and we are under a heavy snowfall warning at this very monent - How do ya like that! Guess I'll be getting a good workout tonight...yep, it's ALL about me... lol
Take care Shannon and I hope your hubby gets better soon!
How are you doing echoes? The deep freeze has left us (until the next front moves in)....... is it now over you?
Nope, it was -45 celcius with the wind today. Not sure what it is now.
:( Donna
Sounds familiar Donna! ;b I've used so much body cream I wished I'd bought stocks in the company this year. We are sitting in the -20's now (I think).......looking at the weather channel the next deep freeze is supposed to be even colder. :'(
Now Shannon, as you once cautioned me, be careful...lift from the knees, not too much on the shovel at one time. Better to go out every few hours than to wait for a couple days. Now you got all that? What's your temperature like, is it gonna be heavy wet snow, or dry light type snow?
Pam...keep focused on....
Thanks Donna.....I'll try to keep that thought in mind. ;)
So Liz the weather channel is telling us (last night anyways) that the white stuff you wished for is a comin'........or has it arrived????
Pam, I athink we got up to 10F today. I was so thrilled to hear them talking about flooding this spring from all the snow. The fields are so satuarated still from last fall, the melt won't soak in. If I have to pack everything up and evacuate again this spring, I ain't comin back! Lotus Land here I come. Or maybe Moose Jaw. or Calgary.....Edmonton?
I bet......Manitoba really won't be the best place to reside (drown) if their forecast is true! Is your DH, whose so handy with his hands, starting to build the ark yet?
We haven't had the white stuff that they've called for, I'm happy just to see the rain. I'd be happy if there was some kind of middle ground for you guys on the prairies, enough rain, sun etc that you need for the fields but not drought or flood. Some days I like to live in my own little ideal world.
Pam, we got about 2 cm of snow. I woke up to it, then it stopped by about 11am. It's melting now. Of course it's 4:15pm so what's left will be ice in a couple of hours. A good day to stay home and potter with the plants. We are infamous here for being wooses in the least amount of white stuff.

ROFLMAO in that understanding prairie humor type way
Yeppers at this time of year I could settle for a few of those as well Linda and echoes.
Liz, you just know you won't get much sympathy for that little bit of snow.
Your welcome to join us in Edmonton, echoes; but at the rate the wind is blowing from the north I'll soon be living in Texas anyway. LOL
