Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Thanks kell.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I think for the most part, I'll just write the names out. I can't begin to remember all of those and how do you alphabetize Monika and Day Dreams? DD is already taken.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Those 2 are so special, we should all write their names out. LOL

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Thanks you Kell & Scoot!! Have it bookmarked this time!!

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Thanks, so much, Kell. Sure is helpful for a Brug newbie like me

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Names that could be added to the above list could be put in posts here and every few days it could be updated until we have a pretty complete list. If we would only make one post and just edit when we think of a new abreviation, it would help whoever is going to do this. I'll start by adding some that I've thought of.

Day Dreams
Monika
Harlot
Vixen
Susanne
Mango Crush

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

How about Sexy Lady? Is that only her working name?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

can Lake Effect go in even though its not registered?
Most people call it LE

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't think most of these brugs above are registered. If you do want to legally register your brugs, you can do it at ABADS. I've registered ForeverMorr. A brand new seedling can't be registered. It has to be grown for two years and prove to be worthy of registration. I can't even register Monika or Day Dreams until I grow them another year and they bloom the same and are quality brugs. I already know they are, but I still have to wait. You don't want to rush to name brugs and register them because if you decide in the next year that they aren't quality, or they look like another brugs, etc, or they die, then that name is taken and you can no longer use it on another that might be better. You also want to have others grow it in different parts of the country to make sure they are going to do well there as well as where you live and that also assures that if your brug dies, there are still cuttings of it growing other places.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

That's one VERY IMPRESSIVE list! I definitely will print it out! Thanks so much!!!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Hey Guys , this is only a drop in the bucket as far abbreviations for brug names go.

It was made to help newbies inderstand the more commonly uses abbreviations as we discuss our seed crosses here on DG.

Hope it will help someone.

Shirley

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

As I posted above

"this is only a drop in the bucket as far abbreviations for brug names go"

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Can't we get this to be a sticky thread?

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

I would start a new one so I can edit in missing names you suggest.

I dont know if a sticky allows the thread owner to edit ?

I will re-post my list soon as I find out ('-'?)

Or if someone else would like to be Head Sticky Brug Name List Keeper ? ...... lol

bump

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

I've posted a request on Dave's Garden Forum asking that this thread become a "sticky". Post on http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/505331/ if you would like to see this happen.

Judy

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

I would like to see a new ......... cleaned up ..... Sticky thread , only containing the List , that can be added to .

also removing each edit tag as additions are made

This message was edited May 3, 2005 7:40 PM

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

What additions do you want Scoot?

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

All this time, I thought that 'sticky', attached to the thread, 'Rule enforcement on the Brug forum - PLEASE READ', was there because of the subject matter, whew. Please tell me about 'sticky' threads. This is only the 2nd one I've seen, and other than the first one being an administration post, I'm not sure what the purpose of a 'sticky' post might be...does it mean that there should not be replies???

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It means that it will always be at the top of the list of threads, no matter how many people post or don't post to it.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

That's a good thing! Especially for the abbreviation thread!!!

Ozark, AL(Zone 8b)

The list itself is a good idea, but the misinformation about there being only one official registry isn't

The is (and has been) another registry, where most if not all of the names above ARE registered and recognized as known by the rules of ISHS. I can't say where it is, to those that might want to know, due the the rules of the first "sticky".
The one that says that the rules will be enforced in 'spirit', and not just to the letter of the law? Chunks of this thread are certainly not in keeping with that spirit, even though the registry information it contains is old, wrong, and outdated.

A more complete list could be written without the misinformation, which would be more helpful.

Thanks Brugie, I wondered what the 'sticky ' meant also, an I am amazed at how many Brugs there are, guess I will never get one of each *LOL*
