New Baby in 2005?
Geeze, with a little warning, I could have gotten one ready for birth! LOL
Don't you even think about it Chele. lol
Donna
Hey, I have my eyes on a 10 acre property with a school on it! Wanna lend me 135k? There are 16 classrooms/bedrooms. ROTF Did I mention the HUGE kitchen, gymnasium, etc? ;)
Michelle,
With a family your size, you could start your own school! :) And all so beautiful like their Mommy....
Got one taker--anyone else? Colorful & warm & hand crocheted....
Let me see how bad Bobbie want a gift. I'll be back later.
LOL @ Jim...I can' t help but wonder what you have in mind. :-D
~julie~
Bobbie said we would have to have a surrrogate mother and a surrogate daddy also. I guess we'll have to pass on the gift.
Now how did I know that was going to be Bobbie's answer, huh? LOL
~julie~
My neighbor's cat is pregnant, does that count?
No babies from this factory, but I am going to be a first time G'Ma....yippppeeeee and woooohhoooooo....
Sure hoping we can help raise the g'baby better than we did our own, lol
Jen
Hugahosta has a baby less than three months. :) She is taking a break from DG for about a week though in an effort to prepare for the new year.
We were so lucky to have a new baby boy a few days before Christmas..This is very sweet of you..
vickie
Boots, that school with gym and classrooms might make a great Gardener's retirement home. We could each plant a half acre to our favorite plants and that would leave room for a green house and swimming pool. ;-)) ~Blooms
Hey Wanda. My neice is having a little girl in a month or so. I have been blessed with 4 grand-neices in the past year and a half!!!
Tina
OK Here is my entry....I volunteer at the Widowed Suppport Center at our Army Base here in Sierra Vista, AZ...We make and donate to each new baby born to E-4 rank and under, a nice gift of a layette. Some of the ladies quilt a gift...and crochet things...and we buy a lot of new stuff for the layette...everyone that receives them are suprised at how nice they are.....
So...send it to me and I will see that a young soldier and his family gets it!!
Jo
I don't have one on the way - just wanted to say that Michelle you crack me UP!!!! :)
Nicole
No kids expected here, not even puppies or kittens.
Celia, Tina & Roadrunner--- I have enough to do it! Send me an email to confirm your addresses.
These are hand-crocheted baby afghans in soft baby yarn. Each one is a different pattern & color. I get bored easily. I usually donate them to the Young Parents Network for their "New Parents Gift Bags", but they don't need anymore right now. No charity auctions called on me to donate the last couple of months.
It's winter, so I can make one a week pretty easily as I watch TV. I just thought it might be fun to let some DGers enjoy them.
Hey Wanda!! What a great gift this will be....since we deal in deaths a lot...retired and active military being buried at the base....one of the happy times is when we can give out a layette to a young Mother and baby of a lower ranking soldier. It gladdens the heart
Another happy time is giving stuffed "critters" to local charities that deal with needy children...we take them (donated to us), wash them in our washer (and dryer), refurbish them with new ribbon and stuff, and pass them on....we gave away 5,000 last year. We get together on Wed. and work on our Critter project, one of us will furnish something for our lunch, and we enjoy the work and fellowship each week. If anyone has extra ribbon that would make a used critter look like new again...pack them up and send them to us...we'll make great use of them. We exist on donations...LOL The Chapel at Ft. Huachucha furnishes us a very nice, historic, building as our headquarters......I'll have to post a picture of it some time.
WEll, looks like I got carried away!! Wanda, thanks for the nice gift...my address is being mailed to you! Jo
Hey Wanda, how about crocheting me a baby GIRL!! :) hee hee.. love my little boy but just get jealous of all those cute girl outfits!
Look out roadrunner - in the near future, I am sending you critters and ribbon. I bought a large box full of ribbon at a craft store clearance many years ago, dickered and got it for just a few bucks! I'll NEVER use it all in 2 lifetimes. May be a month before I get it all ready... don't watch for it too soon.
Kooger....The Ladies (as we call ourselves...hehehe..not always true but we try!) will appreciate that very much...there is a fabric store in Tucson that sells a bag of odds & ends ribbon for $.50 a bag..we pick some up when we are in Big Town...not often though. We are always scrounging for the right color ribbon to go on a Critter. Thanks for thinking of us. Jo
What a sweet post. Thanks for throwing my name in there Michelle :) But, please, I've been very blessed with many homemade gifts from friends and would love to see these treasures go to someone who may not have such special gifts already. Homemade from the heart. What a generous offer, wandasflowers! Congrats, btw, to all the new mommas and grammommas :)
-- Hugs :) (Still on a itty-bitty break)
Roadrunner--sounds like a great project. Baby Afghans are on their way to you. Good for you!
THANKS!! The Widowed Support Center had their monthly meeting today...I told them about this nice gift. They said I sure belong to a nice "club". We will pass it on to a deserving soldier's family when they have a new baby...that is the highlight of our existance...giving out baby gifts!! (((((((hugs)))))))) Jo
How long are you "open" to more gifts? I sent you 2 baby afghans, but it's winter in Iowa & I have plenty of time to make more for a good cause. Can't garden--might as well do SOMETHING useful with my hands!
Wanda...we do it year round...and we just had a troop come home from Iraq so we expect an increase in "Baby Gifts" in about 9 months...LOL
We kleep layeettes on hand...somtime we give away 4 or 5 a month, sometimes less...but we have them made up for boys and girls...including crocheted sweater sets and other new born baby needs...any are welcome.
We did a funeral reception for a lady...and her sister was here from Florida for the funeral. She saw the good work we were doing and sent us some lovely things she had crocheted...how welcome!! Thanks! Jo
Hi Wanda, my Grand daughter is expecting her first baby June 1st. Will be my 5th, great grand child.
Liz, you'll be one up on me!! Jo
Liz--email me your name & addy & I'll send one off to you in a couple of weeks... :) I'm a Great Aunt to a bumper crop of 8 babies in 4 families in the past 7 years here. My daughters babysit for them & so do I. That's why I started all these baby afghans in the first place....
WOW,That is so nice of you. Our Grand Daughter will love this. Thank you so much. Just sent email to you.
Wanda!! What nice afghans you sent...TWO of them...that means that 2 soldiers babies will enjoy them!! Thanks mucho, girl!! Jo
Hey, what can I say? No charity auctions until Fall & no babies due in the family (that i know of). And I keep cranking these things out ....
Thank you Wanda! They are truly beautiful! So soft! And an exquisite pattern. I love the border!
And machine washable--only one knot in the whole thing. Enjoy!
Ain't this Ggreat Aunt stuff great Wanda? I have 3 great nieces with 1 to arrive in march! I love em', spoil em', and send em' home!! ;)
Tina
Wanda I could almost answer that every month...OH NO NOT ME *LOL* but I am expecting my 19th GREAT first week of May, it will be a girl.
I'm babysitting for two of my Great-nieces in a few minutes. My brother & wife are out of town and my daughters are working, so I am next in line. That's the joy of all living in the same town.... I just counted--We're at 19 Great nieces & nephews ranging from 19 years old to 3 months. Most of them are here in town.
