Here's a pic of my early Christmas present...her name is Rosie and she is one of the many types of Australian Parakeets. Rosie is an Eastern Rosella or commonly called a Golden Mantle Rosella.
She's just a baby at 11months and still pretty sweet. She is classified more as an ornamental bird than a pet you take out and hold...they can talk and be good pets, but are usually just "pretty birds".
She was handfeed and is still sweet but not being handled for a while, she prefers to sit on her perch. I will be working with socializing her in the future. Her owners were relocating to an apartment due to a job change and were downsizing the number of birds they could keep so now she has a new home...
I like her bright colors and sweet sounds she makes , they are not noisey like macaws but kind bleet like a sheep...it's a soft sound.
