Devastation in the greenhouse last night

I think you will see a great improvment once you do as you say you will--even a small dead air space and no drafts will help a lot--good luck --Michael

You have a wonderful BIG GH. You will get it all fixed and everything will be fine. Just don't give up. Hang in there.

Oh yea I am a little envious of you. I don't have a GH (yet). I keep buying shelves and I ordered a mini GH for the house. After this winter I hope my DH sees I really do need one. Hehehe. If I keep filling the house with all my plants he may figurer out there isn't much room for him, and he may help me get a GH.

Do you think it will work?

Fortunately, I rarely have to deal with your kind of problems but as I used to raise birds, heating aviary in northern winters used to come up. From what I can vaguely remember, there was mention of someone using a galvanized garbage can filled with water and putting in some of the large underwater heaters for aquariums to heat the water which in turn warmed the air and provided humidity as well. I don't know how something like this would work for you. You can also find poultry warming lamps that are used to keep day old chicks warm that could probably be put over the seedlings.

Well, three days later. We got the greenhouse ready for last night, it got down to like l5 degrees or so, and the greenhouse kept up with only the wood stove going, we never even got up in the middle of the night to put more wood in, I went out at 6:00 this morn, and there were only a enough coals left to start more fire in the stove. and it was only 45 in there. It was 30 last night earlier, and it was 67 in the greenhouse. So if we had wood in the stove all night, it would have stayed 67 to 70 degrees all night. yeah!! We did it.

Got all the plastic up inside, didn't put it on the ceiling part, but put it up in the rafters inside, dh said it would be easier to do that than to take down all the lights. We rearranged the stove, putting it on the floor and putting more pipe inside. i'll take pics this morn and post them.

thanks for all the help everybody. I don't think anything was ruined from last week.
